Naurin could not remember what gave her the sudden urge to sail West, forgetting all her indecision and fears which had kept her stranded in Rivendell. It could have been the sight of other elves who had once known her birthplace, with similar ways of speech and culture making her feel at home once more. Maybe their presence had ignited an instinct which had long been forgotten, the instinct to follow those who were similar to her. Naurin knew she could not remain isolated from her people forever, but she did not expect to return quite so quickly either.
Though the trip to the Undying Realm had been short, Naurin found herself missing Yoon who she had grown accustomed to the company of. Her quiet existence serving as a buffer between the harsh realities of other elves and humans who did not understand her own personality and culture. Grim and cynical as Naurin may seem, within the dark exterior was a naive child who had surrounded herself with a shell to protect her innocence.
And it was these dark thoughts of estrangement and loneliness which accompanied her slow and careful steps on the stone path that led to the Vanyarin city nestled among the mountain Taniquetil. Naurin felt comforted by the altitude, so similar it was to the cold air surrounding the Sea of Rhûn which she had grown to love. And perhaps a culture she knew nothing of would make for a good beginning for her recent-bought leather diary which she was anxious to fill with all the new flora found upon the blessed realm.
Naurin actively tries to suppress such tics because she doesn’t like her emotions being so easy to read but she’s rarely successful. If she’s nervous due to someone’s presence or their actions then she tends to look down or away from this person and focus on an object. She may also close her eyes if she’s especially nervous. If it’s a situation making her nervous, she’ll often try to get away from it as quickly as possible. It’s why she’s often interpreted as rude - she’ll literally just interrupt and say she has something else to do and walk away.
✑ describe something they like without naming it { @easterlingwanderer also asked me this - thank you! <3}
The scratching sounds as she draws, the smell of the parchment, the quiet sounds of nature surrounding her, the birdsong, the rustling of leaves, the soft buzzing of the bees and the sun’s rays occasionally shining through the tree cover.
This was really hard to answer since towards the Third Age, Naurin is pretty much never at ease since she’s always worried or lonely or regretting her actions. The closest she can get to feeling at ease is probably when she’s drinking tea with Yoon at night when they sit in silence and just sort of... Relax? Like, they just feel at peace as they watch the moon and the stars whilst sitting in the forest. It’s a peace Naurin can’t find anywhere else.

Creator Questions
Inspiration/reason to create the character: I’ve been keeping this little naive elleth in my head for many years and never gave her a name and a solid back story. One day I decided to just write her proper story. Originally, this blog was only meant to be a place for me to collect pictures and aesthetics for her and write info down, not an RP blog. LOL.
What does this character mean to you: A lot, tbh. She’s the child of my childhood from reading LOTR and tales of faeries and elves far too often.
Is their name based on a pun or joke?: No.
How would they react to meeting you, their creator?: I think she would be horrified by my loudness and crass jokes but might grow to appreciate my superior sense of humour ;)
Date the character was created: Uhhhh sometime in 2007?
Number of revamps/redesigns they’ve been through: Too many to count! Since I first started writing down her character, at least 15.
Is this character okay to draw fan art of?: Absolutely!!
Describe the character as if you were trying to sell them on an infomercial: Sick of elves who get involved in the world too much and wreak havoc? Choose Naurin, an elleth so isolated that all she does is grow flowers!
Other notes about character: She’s constantly developing tbh.
Do you think you learned more about your character from answering these questions?: A ton. Helped me develop her personality a little more, tbh.
