A warship on the mend....
....after a direct hit by a coronavirus storm....
NAVAL BASE GUAM (May 1, 2020) -- Sailors assigned to United States Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), who have tested negative twice for COVID-19 and are asymptomatic, arrive pierside and prepare to return to the ship following completion of their off-ship quarantine.

With roughly a quarter of the crew of 5,000 contracting the coronavirus, the massive warship had to be taken offline in the middle of her overseas deployment. The ship has been in Guam for over a month now, and may need up to another month to be restored to full readiness....and continue on her deployment to the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans.

Sailors from the supercarrier were moved to locations on Naval Base Guam and local hotels in an effort to implement an aggressive mitigation strategy to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of the Sailors.

Speak softly and carry a big stick -- you will go far.
