The Bombardment of the Hartlepools (16 December 1914) - James Clark, 1915

It was the last day in port and Jace had made the smart decision to stay well away from any make-shift taverns. The day before he had been nursing a terrible headache, as well as trying to hide from anyone who had seen his poor display at the pie-eating contest. Today he felt somewhat refreshed, but definitely more excited by the prospect of heading after The Laqueus once again. As he ventured down the street however he felt a rather strange chill, that was neither refreshing nor exciting. It was if he was being watched, and taking a paranoid look around, in among the crowd he recognized a gang of men, from the bar the other day with Yiran, slowly making their way towards him. It did not take long for Jace to guess what they were after, as it was only yesterday in bed, when he was thinking about all the stupid things he had said while he was drunk.
He guessed they were after the treasure he had been bragging about, and soon he was breaking into a sprint, keeping his satchel close to his body, and looking for any signs of his crew mates or the navy. Lucky for him he came across the latter, standing post at a busy corner. Quickly he approached them, doubling over slightly, “Officer, help. I think there are a group of men after me.” The officer only raised a wary eyebrow before whispering to the guard standing beside him. Impatient Jace looked over his shoulder, though as he looked back one of the officers had taken him by his good arm, twisting it behind his back. “Owww” Jace yelped in pain, “Wh-what are you doing? I’m not the bad guy!”
“Trying to double-cross your own crew, huh? Typical pirates.”
Jace’s eyes widened, “Wait! I’m not-” Before he could explain they began to drag him away. Luckily for him however, with his broken arm, he denied the navy men the pleasure of placing any sort of handcuffs on him. Desperately he looked around, “Help! Captain! Help!” he called out above the crowd, for anyone who would listen.

Today was supposed to be their last day in port, and Dax had done well to stay on the ship until now. However after a quick check of the food supplies, he realised there were a few choice ingredients, unique to Telvi that he would’ve liked to have on board before they departed. One of the reasons they weren’t stocked already, is because fresh meat didn’t last very long on board. Dax however didn’t intend on storing it, but cooking it for the crew the night they left Telvi.
Annoyingly enough, it was only after he had finished his shopping, and was slinging a large sack of exotic meat over his shoulder, that members of the navy decided to approach him. Walking outside of the butchers, he was greeted with four navy men, two of them aiming a rifle directly at him, as they seemed to be taking extra precaution, “You’re under arrest. Drop the bag.” Dax only frowned, not exactly surprised, and for the moment he complied, gently placing his precious meat in front of him. Afterwards, two men from either side moved to place him in shackles, and immediately, Dax made his move. Using his shoulder he slammed the one on his right into the men holding the rifles. Without wasting any time he lifted the other one into the air, easily carrying him above his head, and bending his knees, he then thrust the navy man into his comrades once again. Three of them fell into the canal below, forcing the only one left, to stop and help fish them out of the water.
Bending down to pick up the meat he had just bought, Dax decided it was time to head back to the ship. Eventually he turned a corner whereupon he ran into a fellow crew-mate. “Yiran” he grunted, catching her by the arm, concerned in case he had hurt her, though his grip was rather tight. Taking a quick look over her shoulder, he saw she was not alone either, also being pursued by the authorities. Unfortunately for them, on the street they had followed, water swelled on one side, while large buildings blocked them on the other. They were cornered, and realizing there was no other option then to fight, Dax made a face, looking more pissed then anything. Finally letting go of Yiran, he turned to the figures who had begun to form a circle around them. “Don’t make me drop this.” He growled, more concerned for the safety of his newly acquired meat.
