Kevin Cage of @spotlightsaga reviews... Superstore (S02E14) Super Hot Store Airdate: February 16, 2017 Ratings: 3.541 Million :: 1.09 18-49 Demo Share Score: 10/10 **********SPOILERS BELOW********** Their faces when they all learn that Amy has fired Marcus... 😂 This has been a great week for NBC's 'Superstore' and everyone over at 'Cloud 9'. Not only did the series get picked up for a 22-Episode S3, but tonight they may have delivered the best episode yet. I try to never let myself get too overjoyed about a series, because that just seems to jinx it... But since they've locked down S3 and we've still got plenty of episodes to air for S2, please excuse me while I do a bit of a victory dance in 'Superstore's honor! Tonight was yet more proof that 'Superstore' is much more than a top notch single camera comedy.... Glenn breaks out the jaw-dropper that he's actually 57 years old and going through a bit of an existential crisis... Who better to guide you through such a crisis? Well, Cheyenne of course... There's really no one sweeter, and no one more blunt either. The store suddenly gets massively hot as snow pours down on St Louis and Glenn and Cheyenne head to the roof to *attempt* to fix it. Glenn opens a fuse box and tries to stay positive, but like he has been doing more and more as of late, he has a bit of a breakdown. He reveals his age to a very shocked Cheyenne (add me to that list), and as Cheyenne *attempts* to guide Glenn back to his happy, go-getter usual self, she starts to list things that the Cloud 9 simply cannot do without Glenn's leadership... She even goes with unlocking the doors every morning, but apparently that's done at corporate and puts Glenn into an even deeper depression, one of which he bursts out manically that both he and Cheyenne should travel the world together. Fuck it, right? Cheyenne has a new baby and a man who's 'been at home' (because he's been shooting 'Son of Zorn' with FOX), but she agrees anyway. She'd literally do anything in the moment to cheer someone up. God, I love these people! Meanwhile in the store, the heat starts to get to everyone... Especially Amy, who after a Warehouse induced yogurt spill, goes berserk on the misogynistic and overall warehouse vet, Chad, and ends up firing him. Who knew Chad was a leader and a staple in the Warehouse Department and promised all the other dudes a revolution? Apparently no one, especially Amy! In true 'Snowball Effect' mode, the rest of the Warehouse Department walks out in protest, leaving Amy and the rest of the front of the house retail workers to unsuccessfully unpack a massive truck load by themselves. There is a GIF floating around twitter of Amy flying out of the truck off the conveyer belt... Physical comedy has never been this funny to me. I've watched three shows since watching this one and I'm literally still laughing about this moment... Well, this one, and Glenn flailing around in the uncleaned yogurt spill that caused all of this mayhem in the first place. There's literally nothing that this cast can't elevate to another comic dimension. Never fear, 'Cloud 9' shoppers and watchers... The douchebag Marcus returns after a drive around St Louis where he was literally and figuratively able to cool off (because his car has no doors). And while all of this insanity played out, Dina & Garrett were holed up in the office having sex while on hold with corporate. Never has a tv 'ship' been more satisfying to me. Corporate comes through after several hot steamy and sticky sessions between the two and the rep on the phone realizes, just like the doors are remotely controlled from corporate, the heat problem at the store was caused on their end as well and all it took was a click of a button on a computer. Since Glenn was messing around with the fuse box, Cheyenne credits the victory to him, restoring his faith in himself. What a ride! Like I said, 'Super Hot Store' is one of the best, if not THE best episode of 'Superstore' to date... Definitely warranting this lengthy review and a very, VERY rare 10/10 from me. Congrats, Cloud 9'ers on that S3 renewal. Cheers a yogurt cup to many, many more episodes to come!
