how i coped in the hospital : this lmao 😭 alternative title : the hatter’s domain houses all the brunettes in wonderland that’s why they’re a dying breed KJNEMRH
+ the snap dragonfly, hansel, who was imprisoned in a tower within the hatter’s domain long before the mad tea party became closed off to the rest of wonderland. he’s been imprisoned for almost as long as aleister has been in existence. he is one of the jabberwock’s original creations, though the creator has naught to do with his imprisonment. history has long forgotten him and he, in turn, has long forgotten the world, having never left his tower as a result of the curse that holds him there. still, he is the one who controls passage in and out of wonderland, though how, exactly, no one truly knows : no one falls down the rabbit hole without his interference allowing them to do so. the exception, of course, being those the jabberwock leads into wonderland himself. this makes it likely he is the one responsible for the original alice’s fall to wonderland, in terms of technicality. there is no way to enter his tower without his own permission and aid : the only way up is by climbing the length of his extremely long hair, were he to throw it down to one who asked for entry. he is a dullahan who wears a silver ribbon around his neck : should the ribbon ever be untied, his head would fall off, killing him, and all who had ever been put under a curse throughout all of wonderland, would be freed from the shackles of said curse immediately.
hansel is an odd fellow, rather demure and shy in demeanor upon first impression. very studious and well educated only through books that are delivered to him by an unknown source to his tower, he’s incredibly curious about alice and the worlds beyond wonderland. he dreams of one day being able to freely travel from realm to realm in a never ending adventure, as the only non-god in wonderland who is capable of opening those portals on his own. loyal, gentle and full of dreams, it’s hard to imagine what someone like him could’ve done to end up imprisoned like this, or whether he was imprisoned through any fault of his own doing to begin with.
full route.
+ the jubjub, mary ann : a jackalope who acts as a steward within the mad tea party. she is a former contact of the white rabbit, who has since lost all form of communication with wonderland after finding herself trapped within the hatter’s domain. slowly losing her mind and memories to the magicks at play on the island, she’s attempting to use the last of her sanity to find a way to break the hatter’s hold on all the wonderlandians who have been imprisoned in his falsified world. she bears a striking resemblance to the original alice liddell, making wonderlandians of lesser sanity oft mistake her as an outsider : something she greatly uses to her advantage in order to manipulate them into spending time with her. despite the resemblance, she has existed within wonderland since before alice’s fall, though she primarily acted as a liaison between the rose court and the fae during valentin’s peaceful reign. that being said, the perceptions of wonderlandian’s have warped her “character”, making her something of a strange and incorrect mirror reflection of who alice liddell had once been : when paired with the hatter’s magic, her memories and sense of self have begun to fade and mix together in a way that makes it difficult for her to tell reality from misconception.
mary ann is, simply put, a very robotic individual. she interacts in a way that is almost undoubtedly inhuman, in a way that most of wonderland, strange as it is, would even find odd. she does not speak in a way that sounds natural, nor do her movements or emotions appear to be natural. it is less a case of being awkward, such as with the jabberwock, and more as if someone were interacting with a golem who is strictly not a real, living person. her eyes, expression and voice are completely dead, yet at the same time, she appears to have motivations, emotions, thoughts, and a soul. she does not remember if she was always this way or if the hatter’s domain has affected her.
full route. special note: lesbian / sapphic romance route we love to see it.
+ the bread and butterfly, an npc named gretel : hansel’s mysterious older sibling. they tend to stay out of wonderland’s eye, oft keeping to themselves in a cottage hidden within the deepest depths of wonderland’s marshes. they are a dullahan witch, though what manner is unknown : they haven’t had contact with anyone in quite a few thousand years, though the cheshire has a way of spying on everyone. despite being the free sibling, less is known about them than hansel. asher says that they live in a candy cottage, that they’re the one trying to lure kids into the depths of the dark to cook them into pies, not the bandersnatch. but the cheshire’s words are hard to take at face value... it’s difficult to know what he embellishes, versus what is the truth. wonderlandians, the flowers at least, being so enamored with making their own tales and adventures, have gotten it into their petals that the bread and butterfly must be the one who imprisoned the snap dragonfly. perhaps a sibling feud of some sort, so juicy. the truth is no one knows. they’re all simply left to wonder. what happens when the green ribbon is untied from their neck is known only by hansel.
npc character, albeit an important one that will get referenced often.
