So Amendment One Passed in NC
I am so disappointed in my own state for passing this Amendment. It's the stupidest thing I have ever heard, not only does it ban gay marriage, but it also does not recognize civil unions or domestic partnerships. Only 46% of voters realized this, even though the majority of the voters support civil unions. So of course I can't stand to live in a state where people are so eager to ban gay marriage that they are ignorant enough not to read between the lines.
Of course everyone took to twitter and facebook posting about how wrong it is and how they are disappointed in NC. Then we have those smart asses who are like: we couldn't vote anyway, most of you probably don't even know what you're angry about, stop with the hate we get it already. ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW? So what if we can't vote? So what if we only know the basic outline of what we're fighting for? So what if we're standing up for it? Our generation is the future and if you don't have the guts to stand up for something you believe in then don't fucking tell me that I should stop.
You know that because of this amendment women can get abused by their boyfriends but can't file for domestic abuse because they aren't married? Did you know that a man and woman who are in a domestic partnership, their child might lose legal protection because they're not married. This amendment doesn't only just ban the marriage of gays, it affects everyone. And of course living in the South, what else could you expect? Everyone is too homophobic to even care. Love is eternal, whether it be between a man and a woman, a man and a man, or a woman and a woman. That's something we have to realize, and just because someone isn't different from us doesn't mean they should be discriminated against. In the end we're all the same, I mean we are all Human aren't we? Just because this Amendment has passed, doesn't mean there isn't any hope.
I won't stop fighting for this and you shouldn't either.
