If you were for Amendment One, don't read this. I WILL insult you.
My stomach is attack itself, my hands are shaking and I'm clenching my teeth so hard they might crack: Amendment One was passed and my entire body is taking it like a bad allergic reaction. It seems that the majority of the people of the state I'm currently living in are living in the dark ages.
I'd like to sincerely thank those people for reinforcing the stereotype that the people in the south are a bunch of ignorant, theologically minded hicks who are completely okay with you marrying your cousin. But if you marry your gay cousin, God have mercy on your soul because that's just unnatural and inherently wrong.
I'd like to see their faces when they have to explain to their children when they have their healthcare taken away. Or when they have to explain to a battered woman that she won't receive the protection she deserves from her abusive boyfriend unless she marries the bastard. I'd like to see them to explain to a gay family why they no longer have custody of the child they fought to keep.
Better yet, explain to me what the sanctity of marriage has to do with taking away my rights. How is this any way American? There's a special place in hell for hypocrites and those who can't get over the fact that love is love: whether or not the genitals match have nothing to do with it.
I decided that if this travesty would pass I would never come back to live in North Carolina after I had graduated from college. It seems that agreement is now sealed.
Rest in sad, ignorant pieces North Carolina. You've dug yourself a shallow grave.
Tomorrow I'll be wearing all black out of mourning for equality.
