Because this is something close to my heart, and it’s not getting a lot of coverage on here.
If anyone is a cheerleader and was at NCA Dallas this weekend, I hope that you and your friends are safe. It’s ridiculous how two dads acting like children could ruin everything.
My sister is a cheerleader, and has been since she was five. She’s 18 now, I was a cheerleader for five years of my life. My family even took in a five-year-old shortly to our home (aunt and uncle’s house) so that a mom could find her other daughter.
For those who do not know, there was an active shooter scare at NCA Dallas.
It was two dads that got into a fit fight and knocked over some poles. Scared a girl that proceeded to have a seizure, people started screaming “seizure” and it was misunderstood as “shots fired”.
It’s absolutely ridiculous. families were separated and people were hurt.
And do not say that it’s dramatic, because we are in America, and Dallas is in Texas. The fact that we, as a country, are so scared of guns says something.
And open letter to varsity and NCA, you dropped the ball for the disabled families. One of my mom’s friends is deaf, and she had to rely on her hearing child in order to know anything that was going on. They should have, as required by law, sent a text to all the moms telling them what’s going on so that the hearing impaired know what’s going on.
