My desk today at the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, totally feeling Vint Cerf's warnings of a Digital Dark Age and the Netherlands Coalition for Digital Preservation and Digital Preservation Coalition's joint efforts to ask for public attention for this issue.
* Background: The screen shows my fav project, the Amateurfilm Platform (www.amateurfilmplatform.nl). It showcases amazing amateur collections from various archives in the Netherlands, including video from the 1980s to 2000s.
* Bottom left: the spectacular Medio Magazine on Virtual Reality from 1995 on CD-ROM which I've bought in a thrift store and still haven't been able to look at.
* Bottom middle: my cassette tape necklace which have been cut from an old record.
* Bottom right: Rolodex artwork by Ehren Reed, which incorporates old orphaned photos.
