Phantasiekennzeichen / fancy license plate

Da Kennzeichen in North Carolina nur am Fahrzeugheck Vorschrift sind, kann die Fahrzeugfront mit anderen Schildern geschmückt werden, z.B. mit einem deutschen Fantasie-Nummernschild aus “I”-Stadt.

North Carolina cars have back license plates only. So there is enough space at the front of the vehicle for other signs, like a fancy German number plate from “I”-town.

Bestanden / passed

In ca. 30 Minuten zum Führerschein: Kombinierter Seh- und Verkehrszeichentest, 25 Multiple-Choice-Fragen beantworten (von denen 20 richtig sein müssen), die strenge Fahrlehrerin lässt sich Blinker und Hupe des Mietwagens (!) vorführen, eine Runde mit ihr um den Block fahren, 4 (!) Dollar zahlen, das war’s. Yeah!

Get a driver’s license In 30 minutes: Combined vision and road sign recognition test, written test consisting of 25 multiple choice questions (need 20 correct answers to pass), demonstrate turn signals and horn of the rental car (!) to the examiner lady, drive with her around the block, pay 4 (!) Dollars, that’s it. Yeah!

Sich wieder wie 18 fühlen / feel like a teenager again

Die North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) macht es möglich: Man darf wieder für die Führerscheinprüfung lernen! Wer es nicht glaubt, hier ist der Beweis. Und damit es nicht zu einfach wird, darf man irgendwelche Punkte- und Gebührenregeln auswendig lernen. Ein Riesenspaß!

Thanks to the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) all new residents must obtain a driver’s license. And to make things even worse many questions are on weird point and fee regulations. Great fun!
