I’m procrastinating on writing my speech by reading a book…in which the author is describing his experience with high school speech and debate. If that’s not irony, I don’t know what is.

I love to meet another speech & debate kid omg!!! I was a speech kid in high school because my school didn’t really have a strong debate presence. i got off to a disastrous start in duo in middle school but found my place in Declamation in 9th and 10th grade. After a brief attempt at Dramatic Performance (DI/HI in other leagues), I ended up doing Original Oratory for my last two years. 

Tragically, my college doesn’t have a speech team so I have to get my fill of forcing people to listen to me give my opinions in other forums. But I’m always down to talk about speech & debate because it was such a formative thing for me in high school and I had such a great time doing it!

Life update

hi there ho there to my two followers! i just wanted to let some of you into my life and what’s been happening this week ! (I need friends help someone ANYONE) tomorrow is a big ol audition for a show i 💖LOVE💖 so we can’t wait for that.... also leaving NCFL NATIONALS IN TWO LETS GET IT BOYS (and girls. The Best Debate I Ever Saw

Back in high school I was one of the Captains of my schools debate team. Well, one day I decided to go observe the other captains final round of Lincoln Douglas Debate.

The round started okay but then the other captain made a sort of shady remark. He said "you'd have to be an idiot to follow this plan"

Well, in the next speech his opponent said he was making ad hominem attacks against him.

The entire rest of the debate was solely about whether or not he called him stupid. They never discussed the resolution for the rest of the debate. The entire thing became one giant shade fest. Some highlights were....

"I didn't call you an idiot I said following the plan would make you an idiot"

"Since you're not an idiot you should be able to see that"

"I'm not insinuating you're an idiot, I'm insinuating your plan is dumb!"
