Delta had been on a jog with her Vizsla pup, Echo, when she stopped near dead in her tracks. It was a feeling she hadn’t ever felt before, and yet one she had, all the same. Her entire life, some people just gave off different feelings – but each feeling felt like a different branch stemming from the same tree. But this branch was a new one all together, but still familiar, in a sense. Delta always knew she was different, but she never had a name for it – and honestly, she never told her father this, because she felt a little crazy, truth be told.
Scanning the people about, it didn’t take long to target one person in particular – a young woman who looked about the same age as herself. But unlike most of her life, being able to ignore what she sensed in others (and some more obvious things), this she couldn’t ignore. It was as if she were in a trance as she jogged towards the other, then past them to stop in front of them, dog by her side. For a moment, she just stared at the stranger who also felt familiar.
“Who are you?” She finally spoke up, confused, unsure what to do or say or even explain what was happening. But the calmer demeanour was too good to be true, and it didn’t last, resulting in spit fire questions. “Do I know you? Like.. have we totally met before? Why do you feel different? Like.. different different. Not just different like some do, but a new different. And I know I sound totally crazy and that’s why my whole life, I’ve like, I’ve never actually said anything like this out loud and I realize now that I may be held in a psych ward against my will at this point, but you’re- you feel different, and a familiar different. And I don’t understand it, and- do you know?”
