The comments on the Hotchkiss poll are making me happy. I really didn’t think very many people other than myself associated Hotchkiss with couscous??? BUT THERE ARE SO MANY. :)

No but actually, I’m really annoyed at the march madness Her is doing right now?? Like a hundred people complained last year about how terrible their voting system is and then they just use the same one. I can think of tons of options off the top of my head that would be better than their like vs comment system.

Also... the characters they chose????????? I just don’t follow their reasoning behind some of the choices. I mean.. I do get why they would want to include the core characters (Bess, George, Frank, Joe, Ned) but I disagree with this choice because I feel like this makes it really skewed. It’s unfair to pit Bess and Minette against each other when Minette has been in one game and Bess has been developed throughout the entire series. I just don’t think Nancy’s gang is comparable to the suspects we’ve had and I don’t like grouping them all together. I also find it discordant that they included both Savannah and Ned even though neither of them have physically been in a game (although including Savannah does irritate me less than Bess & George et al.)

We have enough slots that a character from each game could be in the competition. And yet they arbitrarily threw in the rest of the characters. Of physical characters, we have two from SAW, CRY, TMB, RAN, SPY, and DAN, three from DED, CRE, ASH, and MED, and four from TRN. There is absolutely no character representation from SCK, STFD, MHM, SSH, DOG, CAR, DDI, CLK, ICE, VEN, and HAU--aka basically all the older games. To push this even further, almost all of the suspects they included that were one or two-time phone characters were phone friends in games that are already represented. Save for Tino as a phone character in ICE, the phone friends who aren’t Bess, George, Ned, Frank, or Joe were in SHA, SAW, GTH, DED, MED, TMB, and CRY--games that already have character representation in the competition.

Okay I’m sorry I spent way too much time analyzing this but it is bothering me so much. I don’t know why they chose the characters they did but it just feels sloppy to me and I’m having so much less fun with this than I did last year. I wish they had picked someone from each game and left out Nancy’s friends. Then next year they could do a recurring character competition. And then another year could be for phone friends. It’s like they put zero thought into this at all.

ALSO THEY SPELLED DEIRDRE’S NAME WRONG IN THE OFFICIAL BRACKET. COME ON.
