to absolutely no one's request: an updated and expanded revision of the a ship chart I made back in august

ramblings about my thought process and clearer definitions of the catergories below the cut :3

plus a blank for your scientific purposes!! I'd honestly love to see other people's charts this was so fun to do

main - self explanatory, these are pairings I'm actively deranged about. always (actively seek out fic etc)

bros - non-romance category, these are pretty much the most prominent "main pairing's friendgroup" lines (plus carjack because I didn't want jack to be lonely lmao)

mentour-mentee - self explanatory (although you can't see it that well on the graph mb) most of these have to do with nationality and teammateship

real - I had a bit of trouble defining where the line between this category and "silly" would be, what I settled on at the end was "would you find this in my reblogs like, more than once" which has a large but not 100% overlap with "pairings I've actually read fic about"

silly - pairings I enjoy in the bg of fic, but wouldn't neccessarilly read about (with the exception of the Banger fic, which has a chance of tipping the pairing over into the "real" category

missing: Simi (would be in the "silly" category) I cannot believe I fucking fucking forgot them but I also could not be arsed to redo the 2nd graph entirely

I split the more negative category into two subcategories:

1. in romantic contexts no but as bros yes

I get it, but no - self explanatory, I can very much see the appeal but personally not interested for whatever reason

neutral/? - either just don't have feelings on it (but see it around enough that I'm not completely blank) or mixed feelings (lots of these didn't end up on this list ex: jendo and jondo. for the sake of entertainment sure but nah)

2. not my thing

NOT for me - I wouldn't say there's any pairings I "hate" per se but some just feel a bit icky (age differences + carlando lmao. I think the latter has more to do with carlos' typical portrayal in landoscar fics)

not convinced - self explanatory, just not compelled by their dynamic as I understand it (I am however, easily swayed)

guess who's malding about consumer culture on main again (it's me. it's always me. I wonder if I'll ever truly make peace with this whole topic. probably not.)

anyways here's the whole ass essay I wrote out of pure blind rage that I don't want to lose.

this whole debate isn't about "respect" or "entitlement" as you make it out to be. to me as a creator it simply comes down to noticing that a lot of people "don't care enough" about my work. which they obviously are allowed. however, as a creator, I do not spend hours on a something only for people to not care about it. and am naturally going to stop posting if that's the impression that I keep getting. these things go balanced hand-in-hand but when we feel the balance shift to people just not giving enough fucks it starts to feel just… bad. not "insulting" or "disrespectful" but just like it might not be worth it to share or to create in the first place. and as much as likes do count in their own way, to the human brain they're just a number, and numbers aren't real. they are not real human connection in any way. when it is the only thing we see it becomes unbearably lonely. obviously we can't control what you do/don't reblog but I think non-creators should be much more aware of the impact their interactions and lack thereof can have on us. I personally choose to interact with most creations and creators I see online because I know how much of a difference it can make to see that even ONE person cared enough to leave a thoughtful comment. I hate that art (in all its forms) has become content for others to mindlessly consume. I hate the way we as a culture have forgotten that the creators whose work we thrive off of are humans (who want to be appreciated just like everyone else). I hate the rift the modern entertainment industry has created between creators and everyone else.

okay so for u I wanted to make a comprehensive list of every. single. time. I've done that in my... 5-ish months of drawing F1 fanart but it ended up being a more daunting task than I'd anticipated ANYWAYS here it is:

starting off with my personal favorite (and rarest) category - abstract, there's pretty much only one of these each they're very fun to cook up (and usually illegible but that's beside the point)

the left-neb arm sponsors variation is by far the most common, but sometimes I write it out fully if there's enough space

this specific style of 'Neb' is also very common, I split the category in 3 - FiA certificate, Hilton logo, and freestyle

as you can tell. I'm normal about watermarks

I also dug up this very very old compliation of watermarks which is probably uninteresting to anyone who isn't me but I'm putting it here anyways (shoutout to the ones in japanese and the hungarian runes I miss using those)
