it was delicious! Basically sear the tuna on both sides. We used some spices on half of it but it was just as good on the unspiced half. squeeze some lemon over it and eat with arugula and lettuce. Lettuce remains uninspiring but eh

I have nothing for learning mandarin unfortunately! I don't read or speak a word of it. I was wondering if you have to feel guilty if you haven't put much effort into it. Maybe you have an affinity because you heard it a lot growing up? But building a skill takes practice. I don't figure there's shame in needing practice.
oh yeah i should’ve probably mentioned that it was literally my first language but now i understand german more. Ugh. I need to learn for real, with regularity and much practice. I do much better with language learning when I go very slowly with much repetition. College Chinese was like 2 days of listening to the teacher tell me to stop knitting and then blowing up in her face.

how hard... are you trying to learn mandarin?
For both of them, i’m not actively learning at all right now. Haven’t taken a German class since whichever class I took in college. I seriously can’t remember. I want to start learning mandarin again. I still feel very embarrassed when I try to speak it around RSM, even though he also wants to learn. I can still understand a bit.
Do you have any good modern beginner resources?
I am still proud of how much German I can understand. Reading simple German is pretty close to feeling natural.
