I don’t know if this has been answered before but:

1. Do legendaries/mythicals exist in this au? or at least tales of them?

2. Can pokemon in this au still use moves or no?

You know i haven't decided yet, so let me brainstorm out loud real quick.

I kinda wanna say no, that most of them either disappeared and left little to no trace of their existence behind, other than tales and songs about them, most mythical pokemon fit here. Meanwhile, Some where never seen, but the faith in them was too strong and were accepted as intangible yet present beings, like Arceus and the trio of creation, Mew and such.

But you know

Would also be cool to have legends hiding within the crowd, either comfortably mortal or stuck on this lane and unable to return to their plane of existence, or maybe they have cults capable of making them or their power spawn into the world, maybe there's an onion fairy flying around still who knows!

Religion mixed with big powerful beasts is too fun to not explore fully~

Now this one is a clear yes!

Well, sort of.

Since this world has become more lay back when it comes to fighting, most 'mons don't have the need to either use or learn moves, only what comes useful is kept around and usually it's a weak version of what it used to be. Also things like abilities have become mild or hidden everyday traits, that slightly affects the individual physically or mentally.

for example, Vinny would have shed skin as his ability, and it only means he just, sheds more than usual. He hates it very much lol

Meanwhile Nala has moxie, a more mental trait, where she gets a lil more cocky and assertive whenever she succeeds at something. It tends to backfire.

Now Vex is more special in this question, cuz he's actually a trained fighter! And has been in battle teams in his teens.

In this setting, pokemon battles have remained an entertainment for the masses and a sport for aspiring young 'mons. The mechanics are heavily inspired by pokken tournament and it can get just as flashy move wise, at least in the higher leagues. There's also other mechanics i have added for stability but i have derailed enough lmao

All of this means that, with enough training, a 'mon can actually learn proper moves or use their ability purposely. With Vex i'm still fiddling with his moveset, but what i'm sure is that he has Intimidate as his ability, meaning that whenever he gets mentally ready to fight, he gets surrounded by this thick, heavy, frightening aura that either unnerves or terrifies people. You do not want my man angry at you lol
