One of my favourite things about Claudius Aelianus is that he provides more than one “magic spell” for ruining a social event, and they all boil down to putting something no one wants to drink into the wine. There’s the classic:

“If a man wants to start an argument at a dinner party, he can do so by dropping a stone that a dog has gnawed into the wine. This will whip his guests into a fighting frenzy.”

But also:

“If the innards of a marten are dressed in a certain way, which I leave to those skilled in these matters, and dropped with evil intent into wine, they break up a friendship and sunder relations hitherto harmonious.”

Which, I guess, congratulations on inventing a school of magic guaranteed to work 100% of the time! But what an energy to be putting out into the world.

Ok ok soo it’s obvious a Lot of people HATE the PeteKao storyline (to be generous lol) "overdone" "unnecessary" "cheap" really? Like Idk but I feel like I usually see Jealousy story lines with "about to be" and new couples. Unnecessary? I mean all conflicts in life are...but yeah it is unnecessary. Which is Why it works so well (For me), because at it's core this has Nothing to do with Jealousy. And how can that make it cheap when Petekao started from Pete thinking he was jealous of Mint when he was actually in love with Kao and now Pete thinking he's jealous of Kao when he's actually just tired of hiding his relationship?!

So update (yay) to protests in Ohio. Cleveland police have set a cerfew (being in the county next to Cleveland I got the alert like a weather alert on my tv). I have friends in Columbus saying that police are armed with rubber bullets and someone set of fireworks in the building next to her. BUT in Cleveland the officers are being allowed to use REAL BULLETS on protesters, and given the command “fire if necessary”
