If the 6th grade collected $69.50 for a class trip, which is only 34.9% of the trip. How much is the cost of the entire trip?
Okay, so we know that
$69.50 ≙ 34.9%
Now we want to find out the x in the equation:
x ≙ 100%
We can do that easily by setting up this equation (We can write this equation because we know that the ratio between a percentage and the related absolute figure is always the same.):
$69.50/34.9% = x/100% |*100%
($69.50/34.9%) * 100% = x
x = $199.14
The cost of the entire trip is $199.14.
