Some view an offering or "spirit-feeding," as a symbolic act, or as a sympathetic gesture/respect. Many healers, know that when you feed them as part of your work; they respond in a big way for you as thanks. Either way you choose to see it - the offerings produce impressive results and "uplift" your life due to the respect you give. When showing gratitude, love & loyalty to the spirits, please consider: what does my ancestor want or appreciate? How & how often do I have to/should I be making offerings? (I’d recommend regularly). What materials should I use on my altar? Usually offerings are offered as food or drink, but some offerings can also be given as your valuable possessions, like jewelry or items you adore. It's very important that you understand your ancestor or deity & don't just call on ANYBODY (not all our ancestors are 💯) 🌾👀🌾 So be mindful. Understand what they like, what they represent & what kind of offering/gift will suit them & what they will accept. Pay attention and be alert with this. If you are unsure: research! If you're adopted & unsure of who your ancestors are: call out to them - be clear on what you're requesting & LISTEN.. it may take time. Below are a few examples of offerings . . 🍽 Food (always fresh) – but any meal from your family’s table 🍵 Drink (always fresh) – drinks from the family table 🌿Herbs – Sage, sweetgrass 🖤 For deities of Love & Passion: Food – eggs, apples, honey. Drink – Fruit juice or wine. Herbs – Lavendar or sandalwood 🕊 For deities of Nature: Food – bread, fruit, cornmeal. Drink – Water, milk. Herbs – bay. 💸 For deities of Prosperity & Abundance: Food – grains, dairy products. Drink – milk, beer. Herbs – mint, catnip. This list should not be limited to these options. It's just a guide. In the moment of offering; speak to them, silently or loudly. Tell them why you’re offering & ask them to accept. After offering, meditate (or pray) for as long as you please. Keep offering on altar as long as you like, or as long as it won’t be disturbed ✨ (via @HOODHEALI https://www.instagram.com/p/B1SF26RHcYH/?igshid=rzsp9embtblx
