This week I've been listening to the discography of Björk, and em. yeah I can hear why she's as respected a name as she is. I remembered liking Debut as a late teen, but that plus Selmasongs, Vespertine and Medúlla adds up to an incredible body of work. Hell even her albums with The Sugarcubes are terrific, what an artist.
magic is real and it happens during every live performance of 'Dark Star' by The Grateful Dead

whoa haha just a small world moment but i just met a musician in the park today and he told me about a tuesday night music thing that goes on, open jam so I'm stoked haha I have been looking to meet more musicians so this is great and also nice to meet you as well on here, big club going up on a tuesday vibe haha anyway as a guitarist can i cover any songs you would recommend or are you much of a musician yourself?
oh hello! yeah funny that's lol, it's just a vibe that hits right. Every day is a Tuesday when it comes to music I suppose heheh.
I'm no musician, not a lick of any instrument in me. I'm purely an appreciator. Here I just post tunes I like, plus bonus reblogs.
As for recommendations... what're you into? Guitar songs is a very wide criteria lol. I could rec anything Johnny Marr or John Frusciante have played on, anything Ritchie Blackmore or Lee Ranaldo or Carlos Alomar, or maybe you're strictly acoustic, in which case I'd rec any of the Delta blues giants? There's just so much great guitar music out there, and lots of that I've never heard yet!
That's not a satisfying answer I guess, but if/when you see this, send another ask if you feel like. I hope that open jam rocks!
The other day I was listening through the career of Slick Rick (bumpy fucking ride lads lemme tell ye) but what struck me most was on his most recent album, this year's Victory. The album isn't much more than a few nice beats not long enough to leave a huge impression, and a few okay verses, but one track, 'I Did It', did stand out to me. It's just Rick self-glazing, staking his claim in hip hop history and what he contributed to it, what he did first, listing off his albums etc, but I couldn't help letting it stick with me.
It occurred to me while listening that I rarely hear old school rappers getting a chance late in life to make a record like this*, and get the opportunity to look back and say, I helped make this what it is now, even if they're maybe gassing themselves up. I'm not going to call myself a Slick Rick fan (that first album was a bit of a nightmare tbh) but I'm weirdly glad that Victory exists. Hip hop is a genre where things move quickly, and it's easy to become irrelevant overnight, so hearing a 'legend' get to boast after 40 years was actually cool. I honestly hope more old rappers get a chance like this, even if I don't care for the results.
*This is most likely due to my own ignorance of hip hop, and latter career old school rappers in general though.
I hate being sick again bc its Halloween and i have zero writing energy AGAIN what load of bollocks lads
I worry you can tell I've barely written anything in weeks, but I must restart somewhere, sometime. Bear with me as I find my groove again 🙏💚
