IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!!!!
When you or friends go to national parks, parks, nature preserves, or outside, do not, and I mean DO NOT EVER feed the animals!
When traveling: DO NOT APPROACH WILDLIFE. DO NOT HOLD OUT FOOD FOR AN ANIMAL. DO NOT LET AN ANIMAL EAT OUT OF YOUR HAND. DO NOT FEED WILD ANIMALS.
EVER.
For a number of reasons.
My number one reason for yelling at other park dwellers is that one Cheeto or whatever CAN STOP THAT ANIMAL'S HEART. People don't always believe me. If I remember right, it's because of the salt levels. People food is not meant to be eaten by animals. Do not share ANYTHING with wild animals! (excluding mountain goats - they will follow you around waiting for you to pee so they can get minerals out of it)
Next point: the height of tourist season is always in the summer. But, when the animals need the food, no people are around to give it to them. Because of the over-abundance of food in the summer, they have more babies. Then the heartbreaking truth of starvation occurs.
Next point: the animals become less "wild" with handouts. I am sick of the little chippies following me all over, practically crawling up my leg, waiting for food. I hate to, but sometimes I'll kick at them (never actually hitting them) to shoo them away. Do not allow them near your picnic site. KEEP THE "WILD" IN WILDLIFE.
PLEASE SHARE THIS.
These are wild animals, not house pets. Cute as they are, DO NOT FEED THEM. JUST DON'T. You're hurting them!!!
You can put out bird food/corn/salt licks/etc. in your backyard or whatever as long as it's all year 'round and you are not in direct contact with the animals.
