robby HATES these events. HATES having to put on a front and play pretend all in the name of earning donors or fraternizing with other physicians in an effort to maybe sway them to come work at PTMC. he and gloria have a sort of truce where he attends a minimum of 2 a year because anymore and he’ll do something drastic but ohhhhhhhh hohohohhohoooo!!! boy!!! of course where does dennis come in? well maybe it’s an event geared specifically toward honoring recent med school graduates ! or maybe all the residents had to put their names in a hat (because all of them have their reasons to not want to go) and dennis’ gets pulled (all of them put dennis’ name in. it was RIGGED)! literally pick a scenario they’re all delicious

but what is the most delicious is the idea of dennis accidentally letting it slip in some way that he doesn’t have a suit or really anything to wear and robby is like oh don’t worry the hospital actually gives us money for those kinds of expenses and gives him a card and tells him to buy whatever it is he needs!! (the hospital does not in fact do this. this is robby’s card) and oh my god dennis buys a suit and some shoes and trinity fixes his hair all nice and maybe she even puts some MAKEUP on him!! just something soft and gentle blink and you’ll miss it all just to accentuate his features and robby comes to get him and when he sees dennis he short circuits because dennis is covered head to toe in what robby’s money bought him !!!! ohhhhhh!!!!!!!!

and then they spend the entire night shuffling together elbows bumping trading secret smiles when they talk about working at the pitt being so great so fun so amazing and robby is so endeared by dennis’ flush that begins to deepen in color as he keeps drinking the champagne that’s being passed around and dennis is so caught up in being around robby outside the hospital and the way he seems to not even realize the hold he has on the entire room and how everyone looks at him like he’s a superstar !!!

and robby goes oh i forgot to tell you :/ there’s always a photographer here and when i was younger they caught me unawares and because i have the worst of luck it was plastered on the PTMC website for SEVERAL YEARS and it was horrible so it’s better to catch the photographer and get him to take your picture just so you can control things a bit you know and dennis is dennis so he’s just looking at robby stars in his eyes wow what a guy looking out for lil me this is amazing okay dr robby sir and robby grabs dennis’ arm before he stands up and goes ah ah ah you eager thing i meant for US to go together :) it’ll look good you know if they decide to use that picture anywhere… and dennis can only nod and of course the photographer has serendipitous timing and arrives just then and greets robby and asks after dennis and robby tells the photographer he’s the pitt’s brightest and leans into dennis like a magnet and boom picture
