Possibly / probably my favorite example of Tomb Kings lore from the era of Warhammer Fantasy 6th / 7th Edition (this particular example coming from the 2nd Edition Warhammer Fantasy RPG). Their lore was never entirely sans-problematic aspects, and it definitely cashed in a ton on the 1999 The Mummy aesthetics / pop-culture Dynastic Egypt more than it did historical (even for its time), but even so it somehow had managed to be both one of the less disrespectful fantastical representations of its time and offer one of the most nuanced / “lifelike” undead societies to this day. I still cringe every now and then when I see how much of that charm and depth was shaved away not only by Games Workshop but by the community and other developers (such as Creative Assembly).
