Enfant Terrible (TM) . highly volatile ; can and will change temperament on a dime .
prone to fits of temper , manic excitement , relishes in chaos and terror , distinct sadistic streak . playful . is generally only sweet when being manipulative and luring prey in , wherein it takes full advantage of it’s form’s bruised little body and big , aching eyes .
was initially little more than an illusion manifested by pennywise , created solely to terrify , not develop a want to live and physical form of it’s own , but is now able to subsist outside of IT’s wants and needs for her existence . previously she was utilised to terrorize the still alive georgie , caleb , and members of the losers club .
however , by terrifying the hobos and druggies and thrill - seeking teenagers that stumbled into the neibolt house and terrorising them , feeding off their fear , it forged something of a lifeline that allowed her to cling to reality all by herself and maintain a physical form of her own volition . as long as people are scared of her and believe she’s real , she basically is ! the more people that believe in her and the more powerful their terror is , the more grounded in the world ava is .
if she’s well sated for an extended period of time , she's powerful enough to change her form into other beings and people entirely . otherwise , she can only manipulate the appearance of ava , the form she was created to take .
works best within the neibolt house , because she has the most control there . able to lock doors , remove windows and other means of exit by simply willing them out of existence , manipulate the amount of light filtering into the house , weaken the floorboards to make people fall through or get trapped , and more . also knows the best places to jump out of for jumpscares .
her neibolt self is a reflection / horrific amalgamation of ava’s worst terrors and discomforts --- herself , half - starved , ribs poking sharply from her chest , skin and bone . dark contusions line it’s body , it’s hair’s half fallen out from the neglect , peaky shadows line it’s eyes , it’s breaths leaving her a laboured death rattle . her neck is heavily bruised , as though a man’s brutish hands have gripped it tightly and squeezed . it’s actually broken , and can snap to the side at a horrific angle on a whim , because pennywise killed the actual ava in the guise of her mother’s abusive boyfriend this way .
mixed feelings about pennywise , though this is mostly due to her being a rather unpredictable creature in regards to her mood anyway . highly dependent on how IT treats her . may range from wanting to impress IT with her prowess , whining to join in and tag along with IT when it’s going out to harass the losers , slinking to the sewers to mooch off IT’s leftovers and napping in IT’s nest , to actively avoiding IT when it comes up to the neibolt house , sulking , impossibly squashed into the smallest of spaces and refusing to engage IT .
doesn’t need to hurt , eat and kill , but might go for it if she’s been struggling for food to savour that especially powerful flash of fear that occurs when a human experiences pain , or the one right before they die . or if she really doesn’t like them . or if she wants to suck up to pennywise a bit and shove a visitor down the well for IT to scrounge . she has the moral backbone of a chocolate eclair .
likes to “ befriend , ” play and enjoys childish games . it’s hard to tell if this is simply to engage it’s prey better or if she derives any genuine enjoyment from things like hide and seek --- which is her absolute favourite . maybe a bit of both .
pissed at bev for breaking the mirror . um , excuse you ?? she liked to practice scary faces into that . all sharp , bloodied teefs and inhuman yellow eyes . she doesn’t get to have ANYTHING . tantrum noises .
