That heartbreaking gif you sent got me thinking…what if young HS AU Gale had a bad day or something happened and he went back to Bucky’s house but Chick was the only one there? Georgia is at work and Bucky might still be at school or something else? This during the early days of Chick when he and Gale don’t have the footing they do later and Gale is still raw. I just need to see more of their dynamic in that stage. I love Chick, and maybe this thing helps them get closer or at least helps Gale trust him more? ❤️❤️ All the love for this AU thank you

What if it’s a bad day for Gale because he and Bucky had a fight? He storms out of the house but he’s not ready to go home yet or to leave. He goes to sit on the side door steps, which are pretty well-hidden, but Chick sees him round the corner of the house as he arrives. When he follows Gale, he finds him sitting on the steps, hugging his knees and staring ahead with tears in his eyes.

Gale's still wary of Chick during these early days, so he tenses up and wipes his tears when he sees him approaching. Chick asks if he can sit with Gale for a few minutes, and Gale agrees out of politeness. Chick sits with his back to the building, a few steps down from Gale so that he can look at him without towering over him. He starts a conversation with Gale, and concentrating on that distracts Gale from his pain. After a while, Gale opens up a little bit about what he and Bucky fought about, and Chick tries to comfort him and give him advice.

Eventually, Bucky texts Gale that he’s sorry, asking Gale to come back. With a tentative half-smile, Gale asks Chick if he should confess that he never left or bike to the end of the street and pretend he’s coming back from somewhere else. Chick chuckles and says he’ll cover for Gale if he chooses the latter.

Gale rides away on his bicycle, then Chick goes inside as if he has just arrived and tells Bucky that he passed by his boyfriend on the way there. Bucky rushes outside, and Chick gets to see through the open front door as Gale pulls up by the house again and the two boys make up awkwardly on the sidewalk.
