happy paprika day!
hanging out in voice call with @loud-shimo-screes and he keeps exclaiming “But I’m a Good Little Sith!” while playing SWTOR and I’m like “do... do you hear yourself?”
Been casually working on an art nouveau inspired drawing of Janna Howard, my dnd necromancer
some people actually like my personal posts. So. Early in March, I went to the hospital for abdominal pain. Which, during a pandemic, is interesting. I spent 10 hours in the ER, mainly cause there was a line for one of the scanning machines (I think CT). But it turns out I had a kidney stone. Luckily, small. So I was sent home with meds and a page of care instructions.
Fun for me, a week or so later, I had a phone appointment with my neurologist. And everything was fine till I mentioned the kidney stone. And he goes “oh no... um, let’s lower your topamax. Cause possibly kidney damage.” And I’m like “... okay.”
So my topamax starts getting lowered, a bit each week. And then, it’s gone. I thought I was just lowering the dosage, not coming off it. But then, he sent the script to the pharmacy, so what do I know?
But here’s the fun thing about my topamax; it was doing its job. It’s job was to reduce the intensity and frequency of migraine. With an added bonus of treating my anxiety and depression. And now it’s gone.
yay
I live in Ontario, Canada. The country has closed its borders. And my province has declared a state of emergency. While I’m an introvert semi-hermit who barely leaves her apartment at the best of times, I’m also writing my thesis. And now my planned “social breaks for actual human contact and mental health” have been cancelled, one because our DMs health is shaky to begin with, the other because our place to meet is a place of worship and is now closed (we’re less than 50 people trying to run a vampire larp). The most contact with other people I currently have is people in the cleaned out grocery store late at night, over the phone, and the screaming child I can hear from across the hall.
am I slightly starved for human contact? Yes, I am.

Just got (finally) officially diagnosed with delayed sleep phase. The doctor at the sleep clinic wants me to establish an evening relaxation routine with relaxation music/sounds. I know there’s a huge market out there for relaxation stuff and there’s stuff targeting autistic people; but what have people here found helpful? Especially relaxing sounds and music for bed.
