Out this week: Moonshine Bigfoot #1 (Image Comics, $4.99): Mike Marlow, Zach Howard, Nelson Daniel and Steve Ellis present a … well, this one is hard to explain, so let’s just go to the solicit: Buzzard County, 1981—Moonshine Bigfoot spends his days making a living while outwitting clueless cops, reckless rivals, and buffoonish Bigfoot Hunters. All is hunky-dory until he draws the attention of an Illuminati-esque cabal. With his partner in life and crime, Amethyst, our hairy hero is about to learn that some problems can’t be handled just by jumping them in a souped-up Mach 1.
“One of my earliest creative partnerships in this business was with Zach Howard, and in the intervening 15+ years since we first worked together, I have repeatedly told Zach I was such an admirer of him and his work that I’d crawl across a forest covered in Sasquatch scat just to get to work with him again, and finally, he’s taking me up on that,” said Syzygy publisher Chris Ryall. “And I couldn’t be happier to see what I assume is Zach’s life story take shape on these gorgeous pages from the monstrous pencil of Steve Ellis, with inks, finishes, and overall brilliance added by Zach, and then finished off with gorgeous colors by the supernaturally talented Nelson Daniel.”
