Mystery/Thriller Monday
This is not a new book, but, it is still quite the thriller. Talbot is a double agent in the CIA working for the Russians. And he has a plan to strike first against the United States. Enter Tony, an ex-police officer stumbles onto Talbot’s plan. Can he, and Katherine, a lawyer that he now works for stop Talbot before it’s too late?
As I said, it’s quite the thriller, although, it’s not the fastest thriller, Demille keeps the pressure on through the book, and, I definitely wanted to keep turning the page. It may not be the newest of books (it was published in 1984), but, it still works and is still a heck-uva ride.

Remembering Nelson DeMille 1943-2024
I've been sitting on this for a bit, but I did want to share my remembrance of author Nelson DeMille who passed away at 81 earlier this month. For the rest of the world, he was an author of suspense novels, but for me he was the father of my dear friend Alex.
Nelson
Alex and I met in the early 00s when I needed an editor on my short film Musician For Hire. We worked pretty closely for several months on that film and became really good friends. Since then, Alex has directed, written and edited some great films and I've met his father Nelson on a number of occasions including Alex's screenings. As I was talking to Nelson he was always really nice and he made me forget I was talking to a best-selling author who multiple relatives of mine were big fans of. Some of his books were also adapted into films including The General's Daughter.
Nelson and Alex in 2023
Alex and Nelson co-wrote the 2019 book The Deserter and also last year's Blood Lines. It is truly a beautiful thing that Nelson left us so many books he wrote and that he shared his gift of storytelling with Alex.
My heart goes out to Alex and his family during this time.
Here is the obit from People.
