Both A Cosmic Christmas (1977) and Romie-0 and Julie-8 (1979) were produced by the Canadian animation studio Nelvana. 

Known for their highly stylized, imaginative hand-drawn animation, the studio utilized flowing lines and character designs heavily inspired by both Western comic art and Japanese anime, giving the android leads very distinct, stylized "anime-esque" faces.

A Cosmic Christmas (1977)

This was Nelvana's first major television special. It follows a young boy named Peter who befriends three stranded, glowing extraterrestrial beings that resemble colorful, wide-eyed animated figures. 

Romie-0 and Julie-8 (1979)

Also known as Runaway Robots!, this is a sci-fi, futuristic retelling of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. 

The Story: Instead of human families, the star-crossed lovers are intelligent androids created by two rival robotics corporations (Mega Stella and Super Solar Cybernetics). 

The Look: Romie-0 and Julie-8 were designed with sleek lines, expressive glowing eyes, and stylized hair/face proportions very typical of late-70s anime aesthetics.
