Chapter 2 - Dawning Of A New Hero
Marshall wasted no time in busying himself with more technology once safe and sound in Gotham.
In fact, the large city’s skyline gave him quite a few ideas for new products—people seemed to love climbing buildings as much as they did climbing mountains, and Gotham was the perfect place to build and test a suit of responsive armor made specifically to protect the “urban mountain climbers” in their journeys across the varying cities’ skyline—a suit of armor that reduced “fall damage” should do it, he thought.
It had taken a few weeks for him to finally “perfect” the suit to a point he’d like to test it. It’s what he was doing now, actually—if the suit worked properly, he could jump from platform to platform, and the reactive plating would deploy if it looked like his body would impact the hard surfaces anywhere other than the chestplate, gloves, or joint braces, only to retract back into their source after proper footing was gained—a somewhat risky idea, but he was willing to risk it.

So far, so good.
He’d scaled some of the tallest buildings in Gotham and jumped off, only to latch on to fire escapes, get slammed around on the bricks, etc. and the armor properly deployed each time; hex plates made of an assortment of fibers that hardened to make nearly completely bulletproof armor deployed each time, and without fail, they retracted.
Now was the time to put it to a REAL test—someone needed his help, and the big guy in the rubber batsuit was nowhere to be found—he was kinda glad he’d messed around with making some safety glasses for this suit, too. He didn’t want anyone to know what he was up to.
With little hesitation, he climbed down to a low enough level that he could see what was going on and why this woman was screaming, and before he knew it, he’d launched himself over the railing of a fire escape and was landing feet-first into the chest of one of the guys trying to mug this woman.
For the duration of the fight, the armor worked excellently—it protected from the thugs swinging pipes at him, and even deployed for blocking punches and kicks—and this was more than enough to help him keep up the pace of the fight.
Before he knew it, Marshall had taken down three men in the span of a minute and a half. But thugs were like cockroaches—there’s ALWAYS more of them lurking somewhere.
“Go home, lady. Quickly. Before more assholes show up…”
The poor blonde looked too terrified to actually thank him, and instead, ran home as she was told.
It was likely she thought Marshall might’ve been one of them at first. Or maybe someone who thought he was this “Bat Man” but could’ve been just unstable enough to hurt her, as well.
He didn’t mind that, but now he had a new mission in mind: Upgrade climbing armor to full battle armor—create a suit that would allow him to do this kind of thing on the daily. It was rather clear to him that this other guy the town talked about had too much on his plate already. He needed help.

Chapter One - Introduction
[Background: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5kmCgVhADY]
The move from LA to Gotham was supposed to be an easy one—similar environment, everything but the heat; Gotham had some harsh winters, so they were told, which meant Marshall needed to get an actual coat.
Technically speaking, there was nothing he was leaving behind—his uncle, Balthazar, and the AI Android he’d just created, Vox, were both coming along with him for the move—even the blueprints to the company he was considering starting, Alfadyne, were stowed away in the deep, encrypted files on a computer he’d packed to bring along. In all honesty, the only thing he’d really even miss would be the warm weather—Gotham was a fair ways up north, and they always had horribly frigid winters—aside that, though, he could keep in contact with most anyone, and he could stay safe in the depths of a city that neither slept nor seemed to give up its prey.
For many, the question of ‘why Gotham?’ was an incredibly important question with a doubtlessly obscure answer, but for Marshall, the answer was oh-so-clear… A few weeks prior the attempted home invasion on Marshall’s property, Marshall had been in contact with someone from Wayne Enterprises in the hopes that he could manage to help get the future rolling and assist Wayne and his company with their more charitable goals—of course, after the break in, contact was hushed for a while, followed only by an invitation to come to Gotham to escape the clutches of whatever evils were surely waiting for Marshall in Los Angeles.
He wasn’t sure who, exactly, had extended the invitation to come to Gotham, but Marshall knew for a fact that it was a kind invitation and that his uncle was incredibly suspicious of the entire set up—then again, Balthazar always seemed suspicious of things he didn’t have complete control over—it was his way, it seemed.
But, as it were, the decision to move was made, though it was only a temporary decision at that. They were met at the airport by two older men: Lucius and Alfred—Lucius being the man Marshall had been speaking to prior the incident, and Alfred was the one, it seemed, who extended the invitation to come to the city to escape whatever impending evil might be setting upon them.
For now, it seemed, they’d had an apartment and everything prepared specifically for Whitney and his family. Now, the only trouble was getting Marshall used to the area so he could begin working properly and efficiently again…
