omg i feel like you need to know that i have been dragged over to the "midousjui akira is my garbage son" side i never thought this would happen to me but here we are today i started filling a page of my sketchbook w/doodles of him like literally he's so garbagey and i wasn't swayed by the Sad Backstory but i'm like this design is too good omg midou what are you doing omg how did i get here how did i fall so far

i think part of midousuji's appeal is like just. imagining him going through normal life outside of biking?? because what must that be like. who is he outside of being a sports anime villain. like yeah the Sad Backstory doesn't do anything to excuse what he does or make you feel bad for him but it puts him in like a human context that i don't think people think about too much when first confronted w him and suddenly you're forced to see what a good character he is lmao (not Good like onoda is Good but like. developed i guess)
so you see it and you're like "i still don't feel bad for him" but then suddenly you're on the tumblr and you see a pic him and you're like "there he is. it's my son" and suddenly you're forced to reevaluate all your choices leading up to that moment
