Flight Rising post Re: SSAC

So some of you know that in 2015, I started hosting the Secret Santa Advent Calendar (inspired by the Neo advent) to be hosted alongside the Secret Santa Event (that was hosted by someone else.)

And for those of you who don’t know, hi I’m Padfoot, I hosted the SSAC in 2015 and 2016! I had a FR blog, but never used it so this is coming from my main and only active blog xD

It was a huuuge hit in 2015 and I enjoyed every aspect of it, even though it had a lot of kinks that needed to be ironed out. In 2016, someone else took over the Secret Santa Event and I got in touch with them asking if they’d be cool with me running the SSAC again like I did the previous year. Having realized what a burden it was to run the event with one person, in 2016 someone offered to help host the dragon raffles that went alongside the SSAC in 2015 (and admittedly, she did a way better job at the dragon raffles than I did, since it was something cobbled together really quickly in 2015 when I had dragons I needed to move cos I needed the lair space xD) And I asked the new Secret Santa organizer to help.

Together, we took what I had done in 2015 and just completely blew my mind with one of the most successful raffles I’d ever participated in. It was amazing. The outpouring enthusiasm for the community was great. But it was daunting. At the time I was going through a bunch of things involving my job, my daughter, my ex, my living situation.

And there were days that I was a little behind in the ticket counts. Everyone understood and were completely lovely about it. In fact, I still get messages on FR about the events. I absolutely loved running them, coming up with the ideas. Everything.

I took about a year hiatus from FR after last years SSAC. Recently, I decided to come back to start gearing up for the 2017 SSAC because even if I wasn’t active on FR for a while, I STILL loved the event and still wanted to run it, like I have the past two years. My living situation is different this year, my life is different this year and I had a ton of stuff I have packed into my hoard from the times I DID briefly log in this year and purchased among stuff I had just managed to pick up here and there so I could start organizing it for prize packs.

I got in touch with the Secret Santa host and asked if she was ready to start gearing up for the AC and recruiting members to help out this year to streamline things even more.

Unbeknownst to me, it was decided without my knowledge, that the event was being taken over and I was not asked to come back and host. No one mailed me on FR, Google Hangouts or Skype, all of which my co-hosts from last year had, to let me know they had begun planning and were taking the discussion to discord. When I asked about it, I was told that I wouldn’t be hosting this year but if I still wanted to participate, I could and I was emailed some google docs. And first, I was just going to suck it up and participate. I had a few things I had to deal with before getting into the meat of whatever changes were made.

Then today I log onto Reddit and find that I was removed as a mod for the FR Secret Santa that I reorganized last year and streamlined. 

And you know what? I’m just fucking done. I don’t mean to whine and complain, but the Secret Santa Advent Calendar was my baby and its completely inexcusable that no one informed me that discussions were underway, that no one informed me that I would be usurped, when ready access was available at me via my FR account, my skype account, my google hangouts account and my Reddit account. I am incredibly hurt and disappointed. There was absolutely no reason that this should have happened and I’m done with Flight Rising. 

I’m keeping two of my favorite dragons, a few items I love and worked hard for and giving the rest of my stuff to my friends. And I’m sorry if this sounds childish and whiney but my advent calendar was the one thing that always tied me to the site and kept me motivated to go back and save things. So fuck it.

And a big fuck you to the people who just completely cut me out of my event. It was a cowardly thing to do instead of just coming to me and asking me about it. So ya’ll can fuck off too.

I just wanted to let everyone know in case you wondered why Padfoot isn’t hosting the SSAC when you join it this year, what actually happened.
