Well, it's my mum calling me, so it's my real name. It's 7.30 in the morning. I'm still asleep.
"Hmmyeah?" My reply laced with discontent.
"Your sister has an ill child who needs looking after. Can you get up at 9am?"
"Yeah." The same resignation. My mum has a doctor's appointment and my dad is going with her, so I will be the only one home.
Now obviously I happily help out my sisters as well as my niece and nephews, but I'm really not a fan of getting out of bed early. You know those moans you can get from people still half asleep who don't want to get up. I could taste them in every letter of my affirmative response.
Suddenly my mum's next to me, pointing her phone at my face. I think that was a bit much.
I didn't really sleep afterwards. Sort of snoozed for an hour and a bit and then the bell rang, so I got out and opened the front door.
I must have looked weird to my nephew without my glasses on. Dried cream on my face to soothe the hormonal acne that's already announcing my upcoming period. (Like I would forget.)
My nephew was feeling fine, so we played together and talked about prehistoric humans and I told him about evolution and I don't know how much he really processed any of that but my parents have a tablecloth that depicts prehistoric cave paintings and kids have questions about everything, so yeah.
And anyway, now I'm going to bed late again. Because I don't learn. Tomorrow when I wake up I'll be miffed again. But that would happen even if I went to bed on time, so.
