in regards to your post about mental health discourse, im noticing an uncomfortable trend in defending people with serious personality disorders. there are people with these severe disorders excusing their actions completely, saying they cant control it. they just refuse to get help and keep abusing. (that itself can cause a domino effect of more trauma/passed on personality disorders)

Yeah, I see this sometimes- it used to be more common back in the day. I think people are starting to become more critical of this mentality now. I definitely see a lot more posts along the lines of “mental illness doesn’t justify abuse”, and I think it’s a good step in the right direction on this hell site.

It’s always made me uncomfortable, specifically because my emotionally abusive mother has borderline personality disorder. People can’t really talk about experiences like this on Tumblr without someone getting the wrong impressions.
