I'll be honest here, Im getting burnt out on so many ships haha. I had a plan for Sollux that was much more serious and would involve an AU where SBURB didn't happen and he had to constantly be on the lookout not to get caught to be used, Nepeta helping and protecting him- BUT that would've involved a comic and I'm pretty spent.

Instead, another idea crept up on me as I had my most recent playlist on shuffle and the song up top got stuck in my head.

So here, we have post HS2 Sollux who's been through the wringer romantically multiple times. Losing both girlfriends, and again (for this AU) drifting apart from Aradia the more craziness around canon happened, he's grown pretty stoic to the whole thing.

He doesn't feel like he can hold, or even WANTS to hold onto a relationship.

Enter an Alt. Nepeta (not from his timeline), who has been his friend since the bubbles. She's stuck by him gleefully as maybe the first troll she saw since her death, and he just allowed it. More trolls came and went so their attentions would divide sometimes, but eventually, as everything was going to go to shit, Sollux decided to split from all the drama. Guess who tagged along?

They've been living together ever since! Now in Roxy's basement, with a life-ring resurrection, Nep is happily taking care of Sol, much to his complaint. He keeps pushing her to go out more, to do stuff, to have better friends but though she sometimes ventures out, it's never for long and she's always back to 'bother' him.

He hates himself for missing her when she's gone, and he hates it more how happy he is when she's back. He doesn't want to confront what this could actually mean; that their pale relationship was crossing something red.

Nepeta is aware of this, and patiently waits till he's ready to make it official.
