I think its interesting to think about pepsicola happening simultaneously with vrisrezi. I'm gonna talk about it as junedove here because they're better as girls in this case. sorry!

vriska and terezi are not good for eachother, simply as that. terezi is quite the black-and-white person, with her either thinking of vriska as ridiculously evil, as shown in murderstuck, or seeing her as a driving force, and good leader. (i mainly see this in their retcon conversation but? theres probably other instances).

vriska is jealous of terezi. terezi has always been shown to be BETTER than vriska, with her personality (vriska is known to be a huge bitch), and her... skills. (all in all vriska relies on manipulation, last time I read.) they are a ""nice"" contrast to eachother.

terezi killing vriska was her path to complete disaster (to the point it had to be retconned).

vriska and terezi, are also, june and dove's patron trolls, rose says that "patron trolls" are "trolls infatuated with helping [the kids]." theres really no fate in question here? but I still think it shows, vriska wanted June to be to her fullest potential, and to basically "be like vriska" (this is a whole thing about why I dislike spider8reath but we aren't getting into that!) while terezi (while she was mischievous) guided dove into the right place (even if it was pretty bad).

now theres june and dove. they are narratively (and personally) the best possible option for eachother. they are best-friends, are the closest kid duo (as far as Im aware.) and both admire eachother in different ways.

dove kind of really cares about june. I mean, see fig 1,2,3,4,5,6

they narratively protect eachother, June becomes freedom, dove needs freedom. dove ""protects"" time, june needs time. (and freedom).

...which, brings me to my next paragraph. remember when I told you about how vriska tried to mold june into becoming a second her? and how terezi was guiding (and mega trolling) dove and (relatively) pushing her to the right direction? june becoming freedom and her own person directly opposes the way vriska tried to make her. dove literally rejecting the idea of time travel, despite it being "the most logical decision", which opposes how terezi guided her.

now, the portion about shipping. junedove are amazing for eachother and help eachother in the scheme of things. vrisrezi are bad for eachother and lead the other into a path of self-destruction.

with the way that junedove's relationship is opposing how vrisrezi's relationship is, how vriska and terezi's helping styles ended up being combatted by how june and dove did the opposite of such, I think it makes for an interesting contrast between the two ships.

bonus! june and dove are one of the main protagonists while vrisrezi are the basis of homestuck. ok bye now!

i dont think that davekat getting together is purely because of vriska + terezi's influence (see: theyre close pre-retcon too) but i do think the reason vriska and terezi end up to some degree having a stake in their relationship isnt because terezi just wants to pair her exes up so she can focus on vriska - its because they mirror what (vriska) and terezi briefly had/could have had. dave is a vriska who learns how to process her trauma to a greater degree & who is satisfied without chasing after heroism/the shadow of her ancestor, who's happiest just hanging out with the person she loves. and deep down vriska and terezi wish they could let themselves have that but also know its not possible for them
