I’m so tired of people writing for nerdy characters but they don’t make them a NERD.
No, just because they wear glasses and play Minecraft - one of the most mainstream cozy games - doesn’t make them a nerd. It’s not some niche game.
Where are my comic book nerds!! Who collect vintage comics and explain to reader each one and where it comes from and what its value is now. Where are my astronomy and Greek mythology nerds who will sit outside and point out each constellation and tell me its story!! Hell, if you’re gonna make the character a nerd, put them on BG3, Legends of Zelda, DnD, Skyrim, Undertale, literally anything!! I’m so tired of people claiming a character is a nerd and then only using them for a sex plot.
Which brings me to another pet peeve. I hate a lot of nerd!character x readers because half the time they only make is smut. And like yes I do enjoy it, but half the time reader is so inconsiderate and annoying omfg. Because why are you making reader basically shut the nerd up because they wanna have sex blah blah blah. Time and place bruh, I would never try to initiate anything when my partner is explaining to me their interests!!
Stop writing nerd characters to only be a sex plot!! Give them actual nerdy traits and interests!!!
