Say Yes to the Dress
Pairing: Ralph Dibny x Nicole Blake; Platonic Cisco Ramon & Nicole Blake
A/N: I wanted to write a fic of me and Cisco and this was what came to mind!
“What about this one?” Nic asked, looking at herself in the mirror sideways. The white dress was a strapless mermaid cut with lace lining the bottom. It was snug and form fitting; too form fitting in her opinion as she inspected her baby bump. If she got fitted now, whatever dress she chose would undoubtedly be too small come time for the wedding. She looked at her best friend— and Man of Honor —through the mirror.
“I think you look great,” Cisco told her, eyes trained on his phone.
She frowned. “You’re not even looking.” She crossed her arms.
He removed his eyes from the phone and shut it off, tucking it back into his pocket. “I don’t need to to know that you look beautiful in every dress. But seriously, Nic, this is like the tenth dress you tried.”
“It needs to be perfect.” She almost pouted, arms still crossed as she looked to the floor.
“I don’t even know why you guys are having a wedding. Aren’t you already married?”
“It’s for Ralph’s mom,” Nic reminded him. She looked back up at him. “She was a little upset we didn’t have a ceremony and didn’t tell her we eloped. Besides we would’ve had an actual wedding if Crisis didn’t happen.”
Cisco stood from his seat and walked over to her, careful not to step on the dress. He took her hands and squeezed them. “I mean it when I say you look beautiful in everything, Nic. You’re my best friend, why would I lie about that?”
“To make me feel better?”
He shook his head. “If you want my honest opinion, I think dress number three was the one, you were just too stressed to realize it.” Reaching up to tuck some hair behind her ear, he smiled at her. “But honestly, Ralph will love you no matter what you wear.”
“Thanks, Cisco.” She smiled, the first real smile he had seen her make since they stepped into the store.
“It’s no problem. Anything for my best friend.” He hugged her, careful not to ruin the dress. After all, she was just trying it on. “But I hope you know stress isn’t good for the babies.”
Nic rolled her eyes and pulled away. “I know, I know. You, Jessie, and Cait keep reminding me. But if you want to see stress, you should’ve seen Ralph when we were planning seating arrangements. I couldn’t tell if he was gonna eat everything in the fridge or pull out all his hair.”
“And this is why I’m glad you asked me to be your Man of Honor before Ralph could get me to be his best man.” He held onto her arms and made her face the full length mirror. “Now let’s get you into dress number three again and see how you feel.”
“I don’t even remember what it looked like,” Nic told him.
Cisco pulled out his phone and unlocked it. “Don’t worry, I took a picture of it. I took a picture of them all, but still.” He scrolled through the pictures.
“Of course you did,” she laughed and shook her head.
