Hi 👋🏿 I saw the TWD/ Glenn post and was curious: is the killing off of Glenn’s character more reasonable when considering tht it was canon in the comics (in the same grisly fashion!)

I know tht they departed from certain comic storylines: Carol, Michonne, the Governor etc

But Glenn’s murder “furthered the plot” or at least kept to canon. Unlike Carl (which honestly was my breaking point!) and whatever shambles is taking place now.

Do considerations like that make any meaningful difference in your assessment of who gets killed off vs who stays or not really?

I’d love to get your take 😉

I mean, it’s been 4 years, and I kind of hoped that we had moved on from this discourse and all these arguments defending the gruesomeness that was Glenn’s death. Off the top of my head here are couple of posts explaining why Glenn’s death was / is problematic. X / X You can also look through our blog’s  tags for more meta on the matter.

You're right, I am seeing this only from my side and I've seen too many "shifty" or "unstable" (as in who shift sides/opinions not necessarily as shady or mentally unstable) bi characters not to scream into the void when I see it happening again. My indignation also comes from seeing two other characters of color, tough straight and ace, acting very differently in a similar situation. Knowledge is never too much and I'll gladly look into the link you recommended.“

Hi ya nerds!!!! I'm a writer and I'm writing a WOC main character hero (and am not a WOC!!!!) and I've kinda been struggling with something specific because in my book there's a lot of really intense stuff going on that my hero is very busy working against and I don't really have any romance plot lines (nor have ever been interested in writing romance really) because my main focus tends to be the main char and the action. But I'm worried that desexualizing her or doing something wrong!!!

Hey! If there are no romantic plot lines in your story, the lack of love interests or love scenes for your Hero is perfectly fine, since that is not what your story is about/what you are interested in writing.

This fan favorite white male character gets such a cool and amazingly brutal death in the books / comics / myths / etc!!! I can’t wait to see it adapted onscreen!!!11 If any other character gets the "iconic" death of this fan favorite white male character I’ll be soo pissed!!!11

Since we’re talking about racism in shipping we should talk about the Supergirl fandom. People are already choosing Kara/Barry or SuperCat and penetrating the ‘angry black man’ stereotype for Olsen to get jealous.
