My favorite part of Carol and the End of the World is when Kathleen’s perspective shifted. She was one of the originators of the Distraction and watching her succumb to Carol’s attempt at community was beautiful.
Nice message to do what you want regardless of external criticism because they may come around eventually anyway.
I literally laughed out loud when she started dancing.
Recently connected how well Legend of Korra and Steven Universe address moving through trauma. As much as it might feel safe to not address the wound, it can be incredibly debilitating.
Korra allows Zaheer to talk her through the pain of her poisoning. She doesn’t think she can bear it but Zaheer helps her hold onto the memory replaying itself. After falling through the ground where her battle took place, she ends up in the spirit world and connected with Raava again. [S4 Ep 9 - Beyond the Wilds]
After disconnecting from reality, Steven and Connie fall from the sky arena and Steven, through tears, admits that he couldn’t bear the thought of not being able to help those that attacked him. After Connie convinces him that he has to be honest about how bad it feels in order to move on, they fall through a cloud of butterflies (each representing troubled thoughts) and use their floating powers to land safely on the earth. Grateful to have each other [S4 Ep 4 - Mindful Education]
Connected lesson being: emotional release is crucial for spiritual advancement and it’s just as, if not more, crucial to have someone to do the work with.
grateful for the experiences that shaped me
