Similar to the first set, Nerman came up with a drop-shot to close the gap before A. Pellegrino held his serves to 1-0. A forehand down-the-line winner from the Italian also minimized the gap in the sixth game, but the Bosnian qualifier remained solid to hold his serves to 3-3. However, for some thigh issues, Nerman took a medical timeout after the Italian held his serves to 4-3, saving several break points along the way, including from a backhand down-the-line stretch while the point was thought to end at Nerman's preceding forehand.
Nerman then overcame several different deficits to hold his serves to 4-4. After A. Pellegrino held his serves to 5-4, the scoreboard pressure possibly mounted for the former, who scored another drop-shot winner to start the game. However, his failed smash conclusion to a rally that also featured an out-lobbing contest contributed to A. Pellegrino's equalizer before the Italian had a match point. Only through Nerman's double-fault, the home favorite broke for the second set 6-4 even if the former saved the first match point over a working serve+1, thus securing his first Challenger title of this year.
