some words saturday
sooo @bucksbelly has blessed us all once again, esp me by tagging me to share a wip 💗 i mcfreaking love u bc i needed the motivation to make some progress on my current wip BAD so thank u love u as always ✨
this originally started out as a rewrite of Eddie’s fight club era reveal scene (a.k.a. "you wanna go for the title"), in which Eddie never told Buck abt fight club and instead only does so after he learns that Buck has been frequenting a local BDSM club post-t*mmy breakup to cope, and they bond over their desire to cope in less traditional ways. it may be a little rough around the edges but it will eventually lead us to buddie freak4freak nasty style so who cares !
Eddie still doesn't know what this "demo" is supposed to entail. He wonders how to mentally prepare himself. He's either about to learn way more about what Donato looks like than he ever wanted or planned to, or he's about to see her do some hardcore shit to another person who'll probably plead and beg for more. Buck cracks a smile. "She's just showing off some new instruments the club just got. Think of it like a Tupperware party but…for crops and floggers." A furious blush crawls up Eddie's neck in response. "But we can always leave," Buck continues, "If you're uncomfortable, or just want to nope out, we can. Anytime. Just say the word." Eddie admires Buck's insistence. Reassuring would be the right word, but the unique way in which Buck bolsters Eddie's confidence makes 'insistence' resonate more. Most often, in moment of insecurity or fear or just simple uncertainty, Eddie doesn't even have to say anything if Buck is around. In moments like this, all Buck has to do is smile and nod or clap Eddie on the back, and anxiety poof, gone. He's cured. Other times, Buck overwhelms him. Like when he commits a big fucking gesture — introducing him to Carla, saving Chris in the tsunami, talking him down from panic attacks, saving him when he got shot — it all just makes Eddie crumble and fold. He just feels safe to be himself in those moments, stress free. No performance, just existence. It's a lot, but it feels good. Eddie deserves to feel good, sometimes, at least, he thinks. So, hearing Buck ramble that reassurance warms Eddie, makes him drop a guard somewhere within his chest. He won't scare as easily from this as Buck seems to think. "You tellin' me we need a safeword?" Eddie smirks at his own joke, southern drawl creeping in. It's quick—blink and you miss it—but Buck's eyes sparkle at the insinuation. So far, they'd played it pretty cool when it came to the whole going-to-a-sex-club-together thing. Now this knowing, this acknowledgement in all its plausible deniability, bounces around the walls of their booth, smacking each of them in their faces as it crosses their space. Eddie holds strong, keeps eye contact for a beat longer. It isn't until Buck's eyebrow twitches, and something sluggish and smug stretches across his face—restraint or desire—that Eddie folds again, ducking from the heat of Buck's gaze. "Seriously though, I like it so far," He gestures to the room around them, ignoring the way his sentence started with a stutter. He clears his throat. "It's got a good vibe. Cozy. I don't know why I imagined it being more like a strip club." Buck mirrors Eddie's laugh, albeit more breathily. They lean into each other's space when they share it. "This is more of a slutty cafe than a strip club," Buck suggests, smile still curving his whispered words. "We can totally pick a safeword, if you want. By the way." Eddie blushes, the mention catching him off that lowered guard just by an inch. He knows he doesn't control his face well enough in response, but he still doesn't answer. Instead, he asks: "And what do you order at this slutty cafe?" Bold question. But Eddie wants to know.
