I’m looking for a buddie fic. All I can remember is a scene where Eddie falls asleep outside while it’s raining. Then Theo runs out and Buck fallows and he says “ Theo don’t wake Eddie up”. It reminds Eddie of his dad and then he tells buck to stay and bring Chris out. He does and then Eddie and Theo fall asleep snuggling.
My first fanbind! This is my second attempt making this post as I accidentally deleted my nearly completed first draft 😑.
@fraddit told me they got their book weeks ago, but I'm only just now getting around to posting about it.
I bound four of their buddie fics:
Would you ever consider me?
This doesn't change anything between us, okay?
Seismic Shift (they wrote and titled this fic LONG before the show named an episode the same thing)
and Almost There
I typeset the book in LibreOffice writer using a guide and just looking at traditionally published books I have lying on my shelf. I have since learned more about traditional typography and it's left me kind of embarrassed about some of the choices I made with this one. However, I'm in the process of typesetting another fic now, and I'm not really finding any widows or orphans? Possibly LibreOffice has some sort of setting that prevents those?
I harvested the board I used from old binders I found at my local repurpose store (the cashier gave them to me for free). I also found the white and grey sort of marbled/tie-dyed cloth there which I used to wrap the covers. I chose it because I know fraddit likes the color grey.
The stories are short, but I knew I wanted to do a Secret Belgian/Crisscross binding because the gluing process of a traditional cased in book is very intimidating to me. So I went with a quarto, and when I realized that printing the book as a quarto gives me a short grain on my regular printer paper (as was pointed out to me by someone in the Renegade Bindery discord) I decided I'm going to stick with this size for my next few binds.
I did some decorative stitching inspired by Japanese Stab Binding on the covers which I KNOW I've seen someone else do on here, but I can't find the post now to link it. Just trust me, it wasn't an original idea.
For the paper covering the inside of the covers, I went with some cardstock I got from one of those pads they sell at Michael's that I found on sale. I went with a rising sun motif for the book because the stories all kind of share the theme of dawning feelings, or awareness of feelings. This style of binding doesn't include end pages, but I glued on a flyleaf to imitate them. I hooked the paper to the inside of the first and last signatures instead of tipping it on to the front (and back, for the last signature), and I think I might use that method again when I DO do a casebound book. I've never liked how you can't fully open the first two sheets of traditionally casebound books.
The Secret Belgian/Crisscross style of binding was fun to do, but I definitely don't think I've mastered it. On both books, the stitching of the signatures came out kind of loose at the head and tail, and I can't tell if that's because of my sewing or if it's just typical of this style since those areas are less reinforced.

“Did you take anything?” Eddie asks quietly. He doesn’t think Buck’s fallen off the wagon, knows he’s been in therapy about his drug abuse, knows the therapy is helping. And Buck doesn’t look high, but there are plenty of other non-narcotic drugs he could’ve taken.
“No,” Buck says vehemently. “I haven’t ta—I don’t know what’s happening.”
“Okay,” Eddie says. He can usually tell when Buck’s lying, and he’s not right now. “How long have you been, um. Hard?”
or, buck gets dosed with sex pollen. all eddie ever wants is for him to be okay, so he does what any good friend would
hi guys!!! I'm trying to find this one buddie fic where Buck and Eddie meet in El Paso at Eddie's cousin's bachelor party. Eddie and Buck hit it off (in a VERY steamy way) and Eddie ends up spending like, the entire week up to the wedding with Buck. they go separate ways (can't remember if they don't keep in touch/why), and meet up again in season 2 timeline of the show. it's pretty smutty, and it's mutli-chaptered. if anyone can help, it'll be very appreciated!! I loved the story and I really wanna reread this fic!
buck & eddie on the elevator | 5.7k | rated m | blood warning | canonical NDE
“Eddie?” he asks. His heart may have stopped alongside the elevator. He feels like a little boy. A child looking up to Eddie for guidance, no better at processing fear than he was the first time he pitched over the handlebars of his bike. He's in free fall, tumbling ass over head as Eddie's legs give out and they sink to the floor together.
“Hey, Buck,” Eddie manages to choke out. “Fancy seeing you here.”
Because they went down together, entangled, Buck is half crouching, suspended awkwardly over Eddie's body, holding him in a sick approximation of a hug. The problem is obvious: Eddie has a hand clutched to his side, and that hand is covered in blood.
The elevator has emergency lights, but they aren't bright. Not nearly as well lit as your average hospital room. But Buck can see enough to know this is bad. And the elevator is well and truly stuck, an E flashing on the display that Buck has seen plenty in his career. Usually while coming into an elevator from the top. Never while trapped himself. They aren't getting out of here without help.
