Hey y’all - this is kinda embarrassing but I’ve come into a bit of a financial crisis. Early last month my baby doggy, nerys tore a ligament in her knee and had to get surgery. The surgery was over 7 thousand dollars; I had to max out a credit card, open a new line of credit and completely max that one out as well.

This + plus losing hours at work has made it so I can’t pay my rent or bills or get any groceries.

Then her leg got infected and it was another $700 to run cultures (and another $200 for her meds, not pictured)

I know there are so many campaigns going on and so many other things to donate your money to but any spare change will really help me out. Thank you, love you! I know we’re all struggling and I appreciate everyone.

eyes

i. laila.

Her mother’s eyes. The darkest kind of blue. The kind that gets mistaken for black in the wrong light. The kind of blue that the sky becomes during a storm.

ii. troye.

Both of his parents have brown eyes, but when his mom’s eyes are narrower and they crinkle when she smiles and so do his, so he has his mother’s eyes.

They’re light brown, like copper, or coffee when you mix in milk and sugar.

iii. florence.

She doesn’t remember. They’re grey and cloudy and she doesn’t know where they come from, but they’re her eyes. She doesn’t remember, she doesn’t remember, she doesn’t remember.

iv. nerys.

Her father’s brown eyes, her fathers’ terrible vision, her father’s blonde hair, her father’s endearing dimples, and her father’s chubby cheeks that will hollow out with age. Mostly his eyes, though. Everyone points out his eyes.

v. andre.

Andre is the spitting image of his father, apparently. Save for the eyes. Save for the glasses. If his eyes were bluer and his vision were better, he could be a younger Jaque-Narcisse, but his vision is awful and his eyes are brown.

Just brown. Always brown.

vi. achilles.

Achilles has their mother’s eyes, according to everyone who has met their mother. Green and blue and shining. They try to imagine it sometimes, but they’ve inherited the blindness from their father and it’s not so easy.

They don’t mind, really.

vii. z.

Z’s mom has brown eyes, and Z has green eyes. It’s funny, too, because they look like Selma in every other possible way. They have her brown hair and her pale skin. They even have her dark, sunken circles around the eyes.

Yet they have green eyes.

viii. paisley.

It’s always her eyes. That’s the thing everyone comments on. Her blue eyes. She gets them from her mom, and she’s always liked them better on her mom’s face. They seem to shine more, when they’re on someone else.

so i just realized i never mentioned anything about adopting my lil baby girl last month so; here she is! she was 8 weeks when i got her and she’ll turn 4 months next week 💞

Hey y’all, Nerys pupdate for ya

It’s fucking terrible lmao so her knee has an infection (for the third time) so the doctor wants to run cultures again because the antibiotics she described aren’t working. She also wants to do the TPLO surgery AGAIN to take the pins out of her knee since it’s more than likely now that the hardware is what is infected.

The cultures were like $500 and now we have another $7k surgery. I have like $45 in my bank account.

I want to scream. But also my poor baby doggy, she’s just in pain and can’t walk and there’s so much going on that I can’t do anything about.

aren't there several species of sharks that give live birth? i think nurse sharks are one of those, but i don't remember. i would love to listen to you talk about sharks for a few hours, there's so much that i could learn!

ooh i love this question because kira is such a busy, driven person that it's hard to sit down and be like, "well, what does she do besides her job? what does she like besides her work?"

i think she loves bajoran history & culture. that might be low hanging fruit, but it's easy to imagine her running to ayzra and telling them about pottery found in an archeological dig, or how there's an art gallery opening on bajor that she think ayzra would like, or how she finally found a recording of the song she mentioned a week ago.

she definitely takes a lot of pride in her culture, in her heritage, and i think that's fantastic, especially following something like the cardassian occupation. it's fantastic to see people so unashamed of who they are and to take pride in the fact that, after those 50 odd years, they prevailed. they won. they came out of it. nerys, especially, deserves to be proud, as someone who did things she wasn't proud of in order to come out of that.

i think she also LOVES telling ayzra about bajoran religion. she's very, very religious and her faith is incredibly important to her, and ayzra is more than happy to sit and listen and learn. they have a basic understanding, as a cultural anthropologist who knew they'd be stationed near bajor and did all the learning they could, but it's much more fun to sit there and listen to your girlfriend recite her favourite prophesies and tell you what, exactly, makes her faith so important to her.

she also adores when ayzra talks her ears off about whatever they've been working on or whatever they've learned recently. they definitely collect fun facts throughout the day just to relay them all to nerys at dinner or right before bed. (shrek voice) the real trick is getting him to shut up
