"Why did they break up?" Haven asked.

Phoenix nearly jumped out of his skin having failed to notice the small intorvert. "He won't say. Just that it's all his fault."

"Did he cheat on her?" Finn asked.

"No. That is the one thing Orion won't do." Phoenix said.

"We could just ask Athena." Ness said, nodding in her direction.

"I'd rather not. I mean I know too much about his personal life the way it is." Phoenix said.

"Same" Finn said.

Haven however had already started walking over to her.

"I better tag along to protect him." Ness sighed.

"Alright Mama Ness." Finn said.

Ness glared at him, but followed Haven.

"Hey Athena. Are you okay?" Haven asked.

"So you heard about the break up, then?"

"Yes." Ness said as he joined them. "Sorry it didn't work out."

"No, you're not, but thanks for the effort." Athena replied.

"You seemed so happy." Haven said.

"We were, but we were better as friends. I started to feel a bit like he was with me to prove he could be with a girl more than he was to be with me as a person. I mean I never questioned he was bi, and I still don't, but it felt like every time I turned around he was staring at Drift's ass or... some other dude. Like he didn't treat me bad or cheat on me, but all the subtle little things kept happening and I realized there wasn't a future. I got out while we could still be friends."

"Okay, what is going on? You got all clingy at the club and then wouldn't talk in front of Phoenix. So what gives? Did Orion do something?" "No. Not anything new." "Then what?" Haven's lip started to quiver as he teared up. "I tried to talk to Drift and he shut me down." He wailed. "Oh, sweetheart," Ness said as Haven collapsed against his shoulder. "That doesn't sound like Drift at all. Do you think he could've misunderstood?" "What part of 'I want to have sex with you' could he have misunderstood?" Haven sobbed.

Everyone, but Drift thought that splashing in the pond was a good idea so he looks like a giant talking to Haven here.

"I'm fine." Haven whispered barely audible.

"No, you're not and neither is the pale one over there. I get that she likes him, but I can't be the only one that sees her trying to separate him from the group and glaring at the two of you."

"She's just jealous." Finn said dismissively. "She'll get over it or he'll get tired of it."

"Of course she's jealous - I have a nicer ass than she does." Haven said.

Ness and Finn stared at him in disbelief for a second and then busted out laughing.

"Right you are boyo." Ness said, wiping tears from his eyes.

"Let’s grab Drift and Phoenix and go get ice cream and check out the topiary exhibit while Andie distracts the interlopers." Haven said. 

"That sounds fun." Ness said.

"You're glaring." Haven whispered to Ness.

"Of course I am. It’s my birthday trip and you lads invited the walking dick and his new girlfriend and now it's not my day anymore. I mean I sucked it up for his birthday." Ness complained.

"You're just mad that Phoenix is distracted." Finn teased.

"Phoenix isn't the only one distracted. I understand it when he does because they told him to keep an eye on Orion since he can't cover the rent, but the rest of the lads…" Ness frowned. "Maybe I should just go home? Watching him hurt my friends so he can play with a girl is pissing me off."

"I'm fine." Haven whispered barely audible.

Drift sighed. "Busy. I spent the first few days with my mom and her side of the family, then there was the holiday party for Pacha's company, then I went to Cerberus Bay with my dad's side of the family to visit the Aether side of the family because it was their turn this year, then it was back to Halcyon and a very dull very raw New Years party with my Kingfisher grandparents which included attempts to set me up with girls and complaints about my singleness." He turned to Orion. "Did you miss me?"

"Yeah," Orion said playfully, slapping his ass.

"Did you miss him or his ass?" Ness muttered.

"Orion's been celibate the whole break so it's a tough call." Phoenix joked.

"I doubt that." Drift said.

"Oh, I am deeply unpopular back home, so getting any is not an option. The Fates have blessed me in Pendragon."

"Ewww." Ness moaned.

"You started it." Orion retorted 

"Let’s not start fighting right off the bat please." Finn begged.
