qots and jatp (julie x luke) and hart of dixie pls
queen of the south [teresa and camila]
the show was at its strongest when it had a believable counterweight for teresa to set herself against (narratively and internally), and camila served that role while also being her own character. I always maintain that camila represented the lines that teresa would not cross, and I think the moment in S2 where camila asks "would you die for me?" and teresa says "I'll survive for you" really sets up how they are always on different sides of a question (like foil-esque ships in the night). teresa is going to survive for herself; camila expects loyalty in service of herself; these things are never in balance. the layers go on and on like an onion (and you cry - )
between performance moments, I am hard pressed choosing between when they spontaneously and deliberately choose to walk through each other in 'bright' and the little guitar solo that luke improvs during 'edge of great' so he can walk over to julie and check in with her. in terms of establishing moments, the kitchen scene in 'bright' when luke gives her the song (with no expectations! a completely selfless act about helping her!) is a peak fave. in terms of actual romancey moments, we're back at luke and julie locking eyes during ‘stand tall’ while he fights to free himself from caleb's control and then he successfully grounds himself by singing in answer to her -
(I expect you knew this would happen when you sent this)
hart of dixie [zoe and lemon]
I appreciated that the show didn't try to force zoe and lemon to be friends just because they were both women, but they could still respect each other and support each other. the scene where zoe is sadly eating cookies in the bathtub in S4 and lemon gives her a pep talk is a fave moment in the show for me.
send me a ship (or a platonic pair/group of characters) and i’ll tell you what my favorite moment between them is
