Saw this beautiful and also angry killdeer nesting in the landscaping of a random office park. She was not happy that I was walking past her nest!

Herb Birb Updates

My father, who had a very hard and long day at work yesterday, was very charmed by our new tenant and decided to research the birb . Turns out we were wrong! It is NOT the lady sitting on the egg during the day with the gentlebird visiting, with this species the lady sits at NIGHT while the boy sits during the day. I saw the lady early this morning, just after sunrise, and mom saw them both during the switch while she had her coffee.

Our gentlebirb is doing well, and he did not spook when I retrieved the watering bottle from the shelf under him so long as I kept everything but my hand back. He politely let me water my plants with only mild fluffing up and then let me take this new, better picture. Nest building attempts continue, with added sticks and twigs, a few of which have fallen down to lower shelves that they cannot reach due to my thread net to protect the plants. Oh well, birbs, there’s plenty more where those came from.
