How to: Set up a website in Net4.in

It is mandatory to have an online presence these days and setting up a website is one of the best ways to do it. If you or your business is based in India then you can take a look at Net4.in for setting up your web site.

Net4 offers many services including domain name registration, web hosting, business email, etc. Setting up a basic website is quite easy. Basically, you need to register a domain, select a website hosting plan and finally add an email plan. In this post I will walk you through all of these steps.

Head to http://www.net4.in. On the main page enter the desired domain name you would like to register in the "Search Domain" box.

In the same search box select all the Top level domains you wish to search for.

Click on "Search" and on the results page you should see a list of domain names along with an availability status against each domain.

If you find an available domain name of your liking then select the check box for that domain.

Once a selection has been made, the shopping cart will be automatically updated to reflect the changes.

Next step is to configure a website hosting plan.

Click on the "Add Hosting" tab. Three preset plans (Eco host, Pro host, Biz host) will be displayed.

Select the one that best suits your needs. You can customize the duration, operating system and your domain.

In case you desire a more fine grained control on the hosting plan then select the "Website Hosting" link from the top menu.

After you have made the selection be sure to add it to the shopping cart.

Next step is to configure email plan.

When you register a domain, by default, two free email accounts will be provided (with total space of 1GB). If there is a requirement for more email accounts then you can proceed with the following steps:

Click on the "Add Email" tab.

Select from the three preset options (Econo Mail, Pro Mail, Bizmail Plus). Again you can customize the duration and the domain.

When done, make sure you add it to the shopping cart by selecting "Add this plan".

Checkout

After you have made the selections, the final step is to checkout.

From the cart summary, select the payment method and hit "Pay now".

It will prompt you to create an account in Net4.in. If you already have an account then you can log in and proceed to the next step.

Enter your payment details (Credit/Debit card info, etc) to complete the transaction.

Once the payment is complete, it will take anywhere between 24-48 hrs to get your domain registered. Meanwhile you can start designing your website :)
