I have some extra Bohrok laying around, so I felt like making all the various Kaita out of exclusively Lehvaks. Why? Well I think having a unified colour scheme can let you appreciate the actual builds a bit more, and its fun.
This is the taller of the first two Bohrok Kaita. Its a combination of Tahnok, Pahrak, and Nuhvok. Both of the first two Kaita have very similar builds, featuring long noodly legs leading up to a very flat torso containing an entire functional Bohrok body as a head. This one features an additional Bohrok face shield on the chest which leads to an interesting instruction situation that I've mentioned previously.
Both of these Kaita feature a secondary Krana as a belt, held on by a rubber band.
One unique feature of this Kaita is the teeth lining its back.
This is the more squat of the two. Its composed of Lehvak, Gahlok, and Kohrak. The legs are pretty much identical to the first one and the Bohrok ribs used in the torso are horizontal here, giving it a much more wide shape. Instead of the one central face shield "bib" it uses both additional face shields as shoulder armour.
One feature common to most Kaita is that due to the number and size of the axles in the sets one arm features an axle sticking out much more than the other. Honestly they could have put the longer axle in the central Bohrok but then that would mean not just copying a whole chunk of the instructions!
This Kaita features some tiny little arms on either side of its head. It makes me think of those arms that pop out of the Iron Giant when he goes in to Kill mode.
This first one is a combination of Tahnokal, Pahrakal, and Nuhvokal. The first two Bohrok combiners are quite similar and, to their credit, both Kal Kaita are very different from both those first two and each other, but on the other hand...
The first combiner is just a Bohrok with two more Bohrok as arms. Not the most creative design.
Now, as a toy this one is probably the most successful, as the Bohrok neck function is one of the more satisfying play features, and using it to make a boxing robot is quite fun.
The big mess of limbs holding it all together isn't the best look though.
The instructions for this Kaita amusingly are quite incorrect, flipping which side the Nuhvokal and Pahrakal are on.
This final Kaita is made from Lehvakal, Kohrakal, and Gahlokal. Out of all the Kaita this is by far the most unique. While it still uses the basic neck mechanism its the only one to not reuse the Bohrok head.
This means it doesn't have a Krana. Fun fact: Despite the previous Kal Kaita being just a Bohrok with Bohrok arms it is also lacking a Krana. Not that it matters much as you can't see Krana while inside of Bohrok Kal.
Personally how much the rubber bands are stretched makes me a bit nervous, much like the Bahrag it feels just a bit too much for both the plastic and the rubber band.
Finally, the instructions for this set also feature a few errors. Within the same page they tell you to install the teeth in upside down.
And they appear to have just copied the legs and recoloured the Kohrakal face shield blue.
I was just organising my collection a bit and this felt like a fun way to spend an afternoon. While I love the Bohrok they are incredibly limited in terms of parts, so while I don't think any of them are super successful I do admire the attempts. I'd say my favourite is the second Kal one, but its a lot more awkward in person.
