🏠 - Home for Ephial!

Trigger warning for a discussion of transphobia under the cut!

Ephial’s childhood home was in the forests of Kalos - he actually grew up in a small community of Banette!

He ran away though, and never returned. If you asked Ephial, he would say it was due to a difference of opinions with his parents. In actuality, they never accepted Ephial as their son, instead insisting he would always be their daughter. His parents went so far as say that having a partner and kids would ‘fix’ him, which was something Ephial hated the thought of. Eventually, he had enough and left.

Ephial’s current home is in the mountains, near Yveltal’s territory! He shares an abandoned cabin with Nettle - perks of being the head servants!

Most of belongings in the cabin are his; some highlights are his taxidermy equipment, mainly used to repair Nettle, a lot of pink and heart shaped decorations, and a lot of books scattered around for flower and leaf pressing!

🖋 Ephial

Ephial is close friends with a Decidueye named Nettle, the other servant of Yveltal!

Due to his experience with taxidermy, whenever they get injured he is often the one to repair them, as they are essentially a zombie, and will not heal on their own.

Originally he was comitted to keeping them looking as close as they originally did as possible, but in recent times he’s settled for just functional - if they didn’t want to have Talonflame feathers in their wings, they wouldn’t have been injured in the first place, is what he says.

A Nettle redesign! There’s an alternate version that I do consider to be a bit more canon, but it’s a bit more grim so I’m not showing it here!

The reason they’re so withered is that they released Wo Chien, and then died… Yveltal managed to bring them back via blessing them, but there were consequences, and now they carry the curse of killing plant life.

- nettle is 20

- fern is 18

- nettle is a dragonfly, which symbolizes magic, vision, and illusion

- illusion goes hand in hand with her flower name symbolism, which is slander and ‘you are spiteful’ 

- nettle is based off a former friend who forced me out of her life over a petty difference

- (that being, i said i hated one of her favorite video game characters)

- but i viewed her as an older sister and i was heavily emotionally attached to her, even if she didnt reciprocate

- i think that calls back to ‘magic’ and ‘vision’ since i regarded her in such a high sense. i remember having a really childlike, ideal image of her in my mind (i was a freshman when i met her, so like i was fresh from middle school)

- also yes her hair transitions into dragonfly wings (an idea i got because of the webcomic i dont want this kind of hero) this might change but idk??

- fern is based off of one of my current friends whom im very fond of

- if she looks a little like lupin.........oops. lupin and fern are at least a little based off of l-wr-nce ole-nder but in my defense? fern’s irl counterpart has blond hair that’s usually in a ponytail, AND she’s literally 5′11″....so yeah

- fern is a deer because they’re representative of sensitivity, gentleness, compassion, and kindness. those are all things she has been to me since the beginning of our friendship

- fern’s flower meaning is also shelter!! which is something she’s given me as well (literally and figuratively. here’s a fun fact about me: im a whole ft shorter than her)

- fern’s character is a little more nervous/anxious than her irl counterpart 

- fern is also friends with anemone
